After a few days and this place is still rather confusing, but, there's not much I can do about that. At least some of the most basic needs are available, I was starting to fear I would have to fight monsters continuously to be able to gain anything. Survival is still looking like a difficult concept though....Oh yes, I was wondering who was in ( Read more... )

We aren't human. We're countries.

I understand that you are countries. Yet, that still leaves me feeling a bit confused.

How so? It's rather simple!

It might seem that way to you, but I must confess this is a new concept for me.

I am the librarian of the public library.

The "countries" are essentially the anthropomorphic manifestations of a concept, the concept being the country in question. I want to say they are avatars, although that is not entirely accurate.

I see... I understand the concept, though it's still a little difficult to wrap my brain around it.

I was wondering if you needed any assistance, I don't have any librarian experience, but I am and was trained as a palace administrator.

I suppose I'm fairly used to unusual things.

Anything you can do is appreciated.

I can't say I'm used to it very much, though I have learned to be accustomed to alchemists, who can be a little odd.

Then I will try and do my best in anything you need done. Within my abilities of course.

Well there are some disputes but for the most part it started with evolution. Small mammals became larger mammals, and simple celled organisms became more complex ones. Eventually down the line humans came to be, the same with fairies and other intelligent life, only in slightly different ways.

Don't try and mock the question when you know the meaning behind it.

I was not aware there were several libraries in use in the city.

As for the personified landmasses, perhaps they are the spirit of the people? I've seen stranger things.

I was told there are two, I have spoken with one who runs the public one.

That is one explanation. I think perhaps it might be easier to accept it rather than dwell on it too much.

And the other?

There are greater things to worry about, unless their squabbles manage to escalate into something that involves more than a boulevard and their own hides.

I haven't spoken with them yet, if there is one.

You're right, there are. Even if I find there method of handing things irritating. It really has nothing to do with me, and I shouldn't get involved.

It's okay! Any kind of help is useful.

They're insane. Just ignore them.

I hope the kind of help I can offer truly is useful.

Really? So many people to have the same affliction....

If the library doesn't work out, I'm sure our inventory team would be happy to have someone help them organize, so don't worry about it.

Yeah, I don't really understand it either...

It's good to know there are options. I think I'll try what I can where I can.

It might be easier to not dwell on it at all...
