Mr. Denmark,

After much thought and consideration, I have decided that assisting you as your citizen is the best course of action while here. And only here, it shouldn't count for home. If you support your citizens as you say, then it would be prudent to claim fealty. I only hope that you may keep my skills in mind when making decisions in this ( Read more... )

You certainly do attract yourself to troublesome situations, Arlens-san.

It's hard to avoid when in such a troubling city. I must confess that I'm not very good at dealing with these sorts of situations. They are... completely outside of my area of knowledge.

I don't have much choice in the end.

But... I still feel like a traitor.

I must admit that my current skills are not ones that would... be very useful in this place. He has offered me protection and services which I can't ignore at this point.

When was that?

And what?

Originally a few weeks ago, but he brought it up around the beginning of the month again.

He offered to take care of me as a bureaucrat....

It's a type of small monster in my world. They are very weak, and... well puni like. They are round and squishy and sort of see-through.

...Your fruit resembles a type of monster in your world?

Yes. It's... a little strange. At least it's not growing as some dangerous monster. Though, I'm afraid to test if they're edible.

Are you certain you wish to get involved with them?

Honestly, I am very unsure.

These countries are just abstract personifications that re-enact the rivalries of what they represent. They have no real power here. Of course, it makes those wars and rivalries seem ridiculous by comparison, but....

I understand that, though I am unfamiliar with the nations they represent. But... I am unsure on what to do. I am incapable of doing much, and braving the streets has been incredibly difficult when alone.

I am completely out of my element.

Is something the matter Mr. Arlens? Mr. Denmark does take very good care of his citizens though.

I am hesitant to accept this. His terms are very harsh, in agreeing to be his citizen, I would have to renounce my own citizenship to my country. Even if this is another world, it feels wrong....

You don't have to be his citizen if it bothers you; it's not a requirement here of any sort. I'm not certain why you're considering it.

Because... well... it's embarrassing to say but....

I'm not very good with these monsters... and... it's very difficult to continue on my own... I.... I don't know survival on this level.
