As you grow older and make new friends, you just get to a point where there's only so much effort you can place in long-distance relationships. After freshman year of college, I just stopped trying with my friends from home except Madison, Aimee, and Kimi. There were three other girls I was close to, but I just didn't have the energy to work at maintaining a relationship with them. Same thing even happened with girls from my freshman hall. I have too many important relationships at Furman to maintain and improve to try to stay close to my friendships of convenience of freshman year (obviously, Rachel, Katie, Jenna, Chelsea, and Meggie were a bit more than that). So, I totally understand. And it's hard to let go, and sometimes you just want to catch up for old times sake, but all the while knowing that it is for old times sake, not for who you are now. I still grow nostalgic from time to time for my best friend from elementary school and my two best friends from middle school, regardless of how long it's been since we've even been ( ... )
