The End of Arcana, Part 3

Sep 18, 2008 00:05

Alright, so, we left off with everyone on the way to the Construction site. It would have been about night at this point. Unnaturally, if not naturally :P The PCs get to the site, only to find that apparently luck has changed around the place, because the construction crew has managed to put up a base of the full four-stories. That is to say, ( Read more... )

Ah, fate is a cruel mistress.

It does speak a lot to the role of Arcana. I'm sure there'd be a lot of talk about the silliness of fate in that moment. At least Kaede'd comment on it. Because really, Norishige had no other purpose than *to* fight us it seems. And it's pretty sad to be stuck with that fate.

No clue if he'd be saved or not. At least saved, it'd give him a chance to build a new fate for himself. Which would be poetic, if not a bit cliche.

Yeah, I'd say saving him makes more sense. It's not like he'd be a threat, and the group hasn't traditionally been about killing non-threats. There's enough drama in the rest of the story; we don't need to give it to him there, I'd think.

Haruko would definitely go to fairly extreme measures to save him and try to kiss him afterwards. End of the world after all, no time for subtlety.

She considers him one of the few unattached (to her knowledge), decent, and charming Arcana guys out there. No way she's letting him fall.

Haruko is freaking nuts. >.> I just can't get over that of all the guys she could go for, she picks him.

Remind me of these guys she could have gone for. ^_~

Basically Norishige is trying to do the right thing and to do it in a way that makes sense if you assume fate can't be avoided. That's fairly rare among Arcana (and she's already failed with another honorable type). Anyways, she's not in love with him or anything she's just willing to give it a try.

To borrow a quote from Annie:

"Why any kid would want to be an Arcana is beyond me."

I know Katie'd try to save him, possibly falling off of the building in the process. (And then she could finally discover she can turn into a house sparrow and fly! Which is a power she's had for a long time and never quite realized.)

But seriously, the crew has no taste for drama; they'd do their best to keep him from dying. Especially since none of them buy into Norishige's whole fate thing anyhow.

Can she fly without the shapechanging?

Also, yay for long-standing but non-discovered powers. I realized at some point that if I didn't start forcing the telepathy, it would never happen, since very few people ever think "Hey, I should start trying to see if I can read minds."

As Katie's powers stood (level 3 Dynamic Sorcery: Wind), nope. She could levitate, and she could slow her or someone else's fall, but she couldn't actually fly without shapechanging. Flight by controlling winds is an obvious extension of her powers, though, so SAB Katherine had it - since she clearly became more powerful (at least in the wind controlling area) than Katie. And, er, lacks some of the powers Katie developed later in Arcana. Oh well, such is the nature of alternate peoples.

Using the winds to slow Norishige's fall sounds like it could have worked, then, had she reacted quickly enough.
