Summay: Invited over for a game of croquet, Sehun is in for more than he bargained for with Do Kyungsoo.
Author's Note: Wrote this for
eexiee and it's kind of gross, but I guess it's not too bad? Also, worst summary ever. Sorry.
Sehun doesn’t even like Kyungsoo. At least - not really. The older boy is too fluffy - is that the right word? Sehun isn’t sure, but it works well enough. It’s what Kyungsoo is: fluffy and squishy and it’s not something Sehun likes in a boyfriend.
Not that Kyungsoo is his boyfriend. Because he’s not. He is a boy. He is also a friend. Kind of. Sehun is more like a project to Kyungsoo, an extra body that he can drag along to his rich people events. Apparently Sehun’s a novelty for being poor. Who knew.
Kyungsoo’s friends aren’t too bad. There’s Kris who looks like he stepped out off an anime (and is just about as dorky as an anime character); there’s Baekhyun who is cute and smiley and bounces around too much; there’s Zitao who is calm and collected and probably the only one that doesn’t bother Sehun every second he’s around.
They’re good guys, really. They’re just… rich. And Sehun isn’t. So it doesn’t really work.
That doesn’t stop Kyungsoo from inviting Sehun over one Saturday afternoon to play croquet. Sehun has no idea what that is. Is it some kind of video game? Do rich people play video games? Sehun isn’t sure, but he shows up at Kyungsoo’s mansion (where each room is bigger than Sehun’s house).
Naturally, he’s the last one to arrive and everyone is already outside. A maid takes Sehun out back and once more Sehun is taken back by how big the yard is - complete with a pool and tennis court. The boys are all sitting on the patio in lawn chairs. They’re all in similar outfits, too, polo shirts and plaid shorts.
Zitao smiles at him but no one else seems to notice right away. Sehun decides to enjoy it and begins to walk around the grounds, thinking he’ll take a look at the pool. As he starts to walk, he hears Baekhyun bounce behind him and grab hold of his shoulder.
“Where are you going?” he asks. “We’ve got to get you changed!”
“Changed?” Sehun questions. This is not going to be good. Baekhyun nods and pulls him along until he’s back in the house. He’s pulled into a room and then handed an outfit that matches the others’. Sehun wants to protest, but he knows no good will really come from it. He’ll have no choice but to change.
So Sehun gives in and puts on the ridiculous outfit. He doesn’t know why he puts up with the other boys. They’re nice but just not his style (especially when it comes to clothes).
“Have you played croquet before?” a voice greats Sehun as he steps out of the room. He expects it to be Baekhyun, but instead it’s Kyungsoo who’s even wearing a bow tie with his ridiculous outfit. Sehun wants to cry and laugh at his hyung but instead simply just shakes his head in response.
“Zitao is the best; Kris is absolutely dreadful, and Baekhyun and I are pretty good. I’ll help you out.”
“Shouldn’t I ask Zitao to if he’s the best?” Sehun wonders as they step outside.
“No,” Kyungsoo tells him, his voice sharp. “I’ll help you out.”
Sehun nods and the five of them make their way to the field where little things are set up. Sehun is handed some sort of oversized mallet and a ball. Kyungsoo does what he can to explain the rules, but Sehun doesn’t really understand the point? Really, he just doesn’t understand how this could be fun at all for anyone.
He does his best to play along and keep up with everyone, but Sehun falls behind quickly. He wants to ask Zitao to teach him - since Kyungsoo really isn’t any good at explaining things - but whenever he thinks about doing so, Kyungsoo is back at his side and Sehun decides not to say anything at all.
When the game finally ends, and Sehun believes he is an even worse player now than when they started, the group makes their way back into the house. They head into the largest room on the bottom floor - it’s has three tvs, each set up with every game system (ah, so rich people do play video games, Sehun thinks to himself, remembering that he’s seen these all before), along with a pool table, an air hockey table, and a foosball table.
Sehun’s about to run over to the foosball table in hopes that he can play against Zitao - a rematch of sorts as the older boy had beat him by one point the last time they were here. He’s about to, but instead stops as he feels Kyungsoo grab hold of his side and spinning him around.
“I want to show you something.” His voice is a whisper and husky and Sehun doesn’t know what it is. Kyungsoo is normally so fluffy but he doesn’t sound that way at all. He sounds almost… sexy. Right. Kyungsoo sounds sexy and Sehun doesn’t quite know how he’s supposed to react.
He nods, though, and follows Kyungsoo he leads him up the stairs to the third floor. He’s never been up here - he’s only ever been outside and into the game room. Sehun’s not sure what’s on this floor and peers into any open door as they walk past - but isn’t able to tell what anything is except for a bathroom.
They stop in front of a room and Kyungsoo pulls a key out of his pocket and unlocks the door. What kind of room has to be locked up like this? Sehun wonders, excitement building, ideas of jewels and gems behind the door.
Instead, it’s just Kyungsoo room. Saying just, though, makes it seem so much less than it really is. The room is accented with sea green, the walls a light blue that makes him think of the sky. It feels like he’s stepped into the middle of the ocean as he walks inside.
In the center of the room lies Kyungsoo’s bed; Sehun has never seen one so large or one that looks so soft. He wants to run and lie down and fall asleep and never wake up. But he doesn’t. He doesn’t know why they’re here or what it is Kyungsoo wants to show him. So he waits, still, as Kyungsoo makes his way to the other side of the room and then requests for him to wait.
And Sehun does, standing still, but his eyes bouncing around the room, taking in everything. It’s so orderly, his walls lined with books. He’s sure those must be in alphabetical order - Kyungsoo would be like that, he decides.
Before he really knew Kyungsoo, the older boy always seemed so put together. He is, obviously, but Kyungsoo isn’t anything like what he had perceived. He’s much more fun and more odd. That’s a good word to describe him. Odd. His oddness seems to slip out of him whenever they’re together, always saying or doing things that are just a little bit off.
Sehun kind of likes it, though. He kind of likes Kyungsoo’s quirkiness. And he kind of likes that Kyungsoo was a surprise. When he first approached him about spending time with him and his friends, he wasn’t sure what his motive was. Sehun’s heard stories where rich, popular people befriend those below them only to make fun of them. That was not something Sehun wanted.
But despite his better judgement, he gave in and joined the four boys when they went to watch a tennis match. And it was fun. He felt bad having to rely on the other’s money when they went to events or when they would order food, but no one seemed to mind. No one seemed to mind that Sehun was suddenly apart of their group. It almost seemed like they liked it - almost like Sehun belonged.
It was a nice feeling.
Kyungsoo is soon back, his hands behind his back. Sehun is sure he’s hiding whatever it is he wants to show him. He’s excited and curious and also just a little bit annoyed (he just really wants to get back so he can beat Zitao for the first time in his life). Kyungsoo, however, doesn’t say anything and just comes closer - so Sehun decides to remind his hyung why they’re here.
“What was it you wanted to show me?” he asks. At this point, Kyungsoo is just inches in front of him. Kyungsoo smiles - that fluffy smile that Sehun doesn’t really like. That fluffy smile that instead of annoying Sehun like normal, actually makes his insides feel fluffy, sick, sticky, like they’ve all turned into cotton candy.
“Close your eyes,” Kyungsoo instructs and his voice is still sexy. Sehun decides he definitely doesn’t like it. Nope. Not at all. But he listens to his hyung and squeezes his eyes closed tight and waits. “No peeking,” the older adds, the voice right in Sehun’s ear (and Sehun purposefully ignores the goosebumps that are spreading across his skin).
He’s waiting for what feels like eternity and is about to open his mouth and ask what’s up, when instead his lips are met with another’s, soft, sweet, and are gone far too quick.
Despite his agreement not to peek, Sehun opens his eyes wide. Kyungsoo is close to him, his cheeks red, his eyes down on the ground. Sehun tries to find words to say, but nothing is coming. Instead his mouth is agape as he looks at the other boy, astonished and confused.
“Sorry,” Kyungsoo stutters out. His voice is no longer sexy, but it’s not fluffy either. Sehun can’t place what it is - just as he can’t place Kyungsoo. He never has been able to. As soon as he’s sure he has the older boy figured out, he does something like this and it messes him up.
“I didn’t mean to do that. I was just going to show you some of the signed sports stuff - but then you were just standing there looking so wonderful and I couldn’t stop myself.”
Sehun nods, trying to process what was just said. But it doesn’t process - his mind is basically “Kyungsooo?????? Like me????? Kiss me???? What???????” Nothing is really processing, not even when Kyungsoo comes closer and waves his hand in front of his face.
“Shit,” he mutters. “I think I killed Sehun.” Kyungsoo runs out of the room, leaving Sehun alone to his rapid mind. His mind is almost at the part where it can form sentences, but despite having both a noun and a verb, the sentences aren’t any good - or helpful whatsoever.
Soon Kyungsoo is back - this time with the rest of the boys. Baekhyun laughs at the sight and Zitao grins, shaking his head back and forth. Kris doesn’t react at all and Kyungsoo is soon back by Sehun.
“So what happened?” Zitao asks. Sehun is happy that his brain is able to process what was said - not happy, however, that he can’t actually reply and has to reply on Kyungsoo, who then mumbles something no one can hear. “What was that?” Zitao questions.
Kyungsoo looks up and with a large sigh says, “I kissed Sehun and now I think he’s dead.”
“You kissed him?” Baekhyun squeels and begins to bounce around. “I am so proud of you!”
Zitao laughs and Kris, who’s been silent for most of the afternoon, turns to Kyungsoo says, “Wait, I thought you two were already fucking.”
Kyungsoo glares at his hyung and then pulling on Sehun’s arm whines, “Don’t be dead, Sehun-ah. I’m sorry! I take it all back.”
“Don’t,” Sehun manages to say. Don’t what? he asks himself. Don’t hold onto me? Don’t talk? Don’t what? “Don’t take it back,” his brain decides on. Kyungsoo looks up at the taller boy with wide eyes, surprised (although not as surprised as Sehun - whose head is finally making thoughts (but all of the thoughts are things Sehun isn’t used to thinking (like how good Kyungsoo looks blushing, how pretty his eyes are, how fluffy he is and how Sehun might actually like that))).
“Okay,” Kyungsoo agrees. “I won’t take it back. But I’m definitely not going to kiss you again unless you promise me you won’t die.”
Sehun chuckles and says, “I promise.”
Kyungsoo stands on his toes and kisses Sehun - this time it’s a proper kiss that lasts, one that sends more goosebumps across Sehun’s skin, one that Sehun smiles into. His mind is processing all of this - processing the feeling of Kyungsoo against him, how good it feels to reach up and grab hold of his face.
They part only when Zitao, his voice bored, monotone, comments, “If you two are going to fuck, can you at least warn us so we can leave.”
Sehun flushes and looks down but Kyungsoo, voice strong and sexy, tells him, “You don’t need a fucking invitation to leave, Zitao. But,” he adds a second later, “if you needed one, this is it.”
Zitao laughs and makes his way out of the room, Baekhyun and Kris trailing behind. Once they’re gone, Kyungsoo turns back to Sehun and tells him, “I was just kidding - about the fucking. We can go back downstairs with the rest of them.”
“Um, actually, if it’s okay, I really wanted to try out your bed.” Kyungsoo looks at him, eyebrows raised and Sehun laughs and adds, “Not like that! It’s just really fluffy.” Like you, he adds to himself, as he runs over to the bed and lies down, Kyungsoo trailing behind.
Hours later, the two fall asleep, Sehun worn out. He’s never kissed someone so much - he’s surprised that someone so simple could wear him down so completely. They fall asleep, their bodies tangled together. It’s nice.
Being with Kyungsoo is nice. So very nice.
