Well, the Master generally doesn't die permanently anyways. Even when they appear to. Plus, come on, imagine Missy being there during the Christmas special. It would be amazing!

I agree with you, I also took my time comparing the effects and I think she teleported because of the lack of explosion and because she has been teleporting the whole time.
I don't think the Doctor would have been really able to kill the Mistress, he has never succeeded. Yeah, he told her "you win", implying he was going to do something Master-like, that is, killing her. And that was enough for her, it proved her that the Doctor was, deep inside, like her and he knew it. Even if he had been the one to shoot and not the Brigadier, in my opinion she would have teleported anyway, just to make him suffer.

yes, I am sure he/she had a back-up plan somewhere there
but what worried me the most, that she/he hurt doctor very personally (in S3, at least there was a glimpse that somehow the bad could be reverted, but in S8 everything is getting worse, I miss the optimistic soul of the doctor, after the bad day it always make me fill better ;( ) and now doctor will never ever forgive him/her and they will never be friends again (12th doctor is very dark, maybe 13th incarnation will be more sunnier, even Clara started be more dark than before)
I have to state that Master is truly dead for me ;(
I think this is the first time the Master straight up killed a companion (companion-to-be?) just because the Doctor liked them. Am I mistaken? Screwed with their lives, yes. Taken them hostage, yes. But she murdered Osgood without gloating to the Doctor first and kicked Kate out of the plane without even giving the Doctor a chance to beg for her life. That seems new.
You know, Missy should probs be added to the comm's list of Master tags. I'd suggest adding War to the Doctor's list too, but that list seems to be more Eras than Doctor's - which is a shame, really, since I can see people wanting a specific Doctor that isn't covered by an Era per se.
