So it's January 2005! And I'm almost 20. And I haven't had a decent update in a while, about xmas & new year's eve and the like, and frankly although I got home on Sunday evening I've just been too lazy to update. Even now I am terrified at the thought of resizing photos and loading them up to photobucket, but I'll stick at it.
Christmas
The first memory I have of Christmas morning is of Chris running in and going "Lex, Lex, you gotta come open your Santa stocking!!!!" and I was still very sleepy. But the stocking was filled with many wonderful things including a plastic collapsing dog, heaps of chocolate and a drum with drumsticks! Yay for Santa (who also goes by the name of Chris on occasions). The trifle was awesome, three cheers for the trifle. After the big family Christmas lunch, Chris and I drew some cool pictures on the driveway with my sidewalk chalk (another Santa stocking delight).
We made a grid for hopscotch, and I drew the view of the harbour bridge as you can see it from Chris' place. Oh and that is meant to say 'Chris loves trifle'.
Chris drew his head and I drew his body.
I drew my head and Chris drew my body. My shoulders aren't that broad in reality, Chris said he aways seems to draw people with really broad shoulders. That's okay with me because I gave him a purple and yellow outfit.
Boxing Day
We went down to Chris' Auntie and Uncle's farm in Morrinsville. Saw many cows and made friends with a cat called Minkie.
A really lovely cow.
Matthew got to ride the bike with Chris' dad.
We all ventured down to the milking shed.
The cows waited patiently.
Mum's Birthday (28th)
It was a gorgeous sunny day. You were probably relaxing in the shade somewhere. We were hauling ass up Rangitoto.
Yes, my Dad tends to raise his arms up in photos. The birthday girl is down the path wearing blue. Was a really cool day, tiring but rewarding. And that night Chris and I had a fantastic curry. Fantastic curry is wonderful.
New Year's Eve
From the 30th til the 2nd I went up to stay at Ryan's dad's place in Tawharanui. It was wonderful (more so than the curry), and a much needed holiday break away. The place is a palace basically, everything you'd need and more.
Last sunset of 2004, looking down over the bay from the house on the hill.
Amee lit a fire in one of their many fire cauldron things.
Was quite a quiet night, just a few drinks and a few giggles and I was waiting anxiously for Chris to arrive. He finished work at 9.30pm and had to drive up from Auckland in time to see the New Year in. He arrived at ten to midnight! I was relieved. Mainly because the roads are so windy and it was dark and I was a wee bit tipsy and just happy to have him there. We went to bed around 1.30 or so. Oh and we lit fireworks! And had hugs.
New Year's Day
We built a flying fox in the section of native bush behind the house. Well I say 'we' but really I didn't help too much.
Chris, Ryan and Bailey the dog!

Next Day (2nd)
We went out to Kawau on Ryan's dad's boat. Ohhh it was fun! At first I was a little scared but I eased up when I realised just how brilliant every part of the little excursion was. We got dropped off at Mansion Bay and walked a bit of Kawau Island.
We dipped around beautiful bays.
Went to Pah Farm on Kawau for a bite to eat and a drink at the pub there. Yes! There's a pub on Kawau Island! Infact I think there are a couple. Chris and Amee look like children's TV presenters.
Ryan's dad likes Steinlager.
We went for a swim off the back of the boat. Geez that was beautiful.
On our way back we were delighted with a group of 3 or 4 dolphins including a baby one who were swimming around the area. I managed to take some really shite photos which didn't capture the moment at all. In reality, they came really close and they were so exquisite and it was the most lovely experience. I sound pretty gushy but it was the best end to a brilliant day on the water. After we got back we packed our stuff and headed back to Auckland.
I was a little sad to be leaving such a neat place.
Came home to find Chloe had been attacked by the evil neighbour cat. She was hiding under the bed and wouldn't come out. When she finally did, Chris and I could see that she was traumatised and had been hurt. We took her to the 24 hour vet who was busy doing an operation so we decided to leave her there overnight. In the morning, we got told she had been under anaesthetic and had a wound around her bum stitched up. That damn cat! Leave my bub alone. She has a wound under her right front leg too. And various scratches on her tummy and clumps of hair missing. She's scared to leave my room. He's been attacking her for a while, and he finally got her in a corner. The asshole. If I get my hands on him I'm gonna put him in the cat cage and put him in the shower. Apparently they hate that.
I went for a drive today! Old driving Lex aye! It was great. My confidence is way up and we're on the hunt for a car. Should hear about the job soon. Things are looking up! Seems all the things I thought were scary might not be too scary at all. It's taken me an hour and a bit to do all this so I shall say nunnight.
