I must advise that "good" is a factor of two things: opinion and experience. You're working on the latter (huzzah!), but beware of looking for the former from people who are frustrated artists, as they might project their own self-criticism on your stuff. You don't need anyone else's creative baggage.
And bear in mind that you're your own worst critic. Seriously, I write some things, am completely convinced that they're horrible, and when I go back to them I find that they aren't as bad as I thought, and lo and behold, the parts that aren't great are completely fixable. This is my life with "The Hair Wife" right now. Lather, rinse, edit, repeat.
If you want something long, The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett was a decent read. I got through it in about a week at camp, pretty interesting stuff.
