Last summer I gave walking, candle-lit "performances" (as I refer to them) for Ghostly Tours in York, Maine. I've been looking forward to starting up again, so when I received a response to my e-mail to Ryan, the owner, I was ecstatic ( Read more... )

This is the only instance in my life I think I'll ever regret not living in York, Maine.

One of the only truly great things about York, Maine is that they have Ghostly Tours. Even I don't regret not living there.

Sadly, this will probably be my last summer giving the tours, at least for now. I plan to be in the city next summer, so that'll make giving tours in Maine pretty difficult.

Well, I better get back to studying. I took a nap, watched the Colbert Report, and have only just started.

You're a "haunted tour" tour guide??? How come I did not know this? That is so befitting of you!

Ha, I certainly do enjoy the role-playing aspect of the job. When I auditioned for the position, I performed an excerpt of the tour in a very creepy, decidedly Caspiar-esque fashion. When I actually started giving tours though, I found it was easier to improvise with the tour groups when I played a character more similar to myself. My boss encourages me to try out the Caspiar persona then and again though, and this year I just might.

If only the prospective students would appreciate themed tours of Sarah Lawrence. I tried it once, but apparently Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is not as popular as it should be (plus, it usually works better to have both Bill AND Ted, not just one half of them). I was doing the voice of Skeletor from "He-Man" for Gabe the other day and I began to miss Caspiar very much.
