Title: And in the end of all things there was horror
Prompt: What makes you cry?

There’s a smell of a room and candles and glasses breaking. She tossed the entire apartment the police said and screamed-the neighbors said they heard screams like a howling animal tossing things, hurting things, throwing things up against the wall trying to wake something real from them, something familiar. Telling flowers to wake up and china to dance the morning had come and was alive, alive, and it was time to wake up.

She is waking up as she falls and lands blood pooling beneath her purple dress and it’s suddenly like she’s never been the darkness swallowing her like the limbo they never left and the horrors that they had built together with the wonders he’d been god and he had seen his most favorite angel fall and he screamed out the window so loud that the people on the street heard below and fell back against the ledge sobbing, sobbing, thinking only of his children their bodies, their warm clean smell, James’s joy at finding something new and Philippa’s serious nature planning her career around her stuffed animals. They are all he has as his love is swallowed by darkness and he screams and screams and he precieves a line between him and the rest of the world.

I cried when my wife died. Other then that I don't cry very often.

Title: Who are you?
Prompt: Prompt 338: Tell the story behind your name (or nickname).

My full name is Dominic Edward Cobb, and if you can't tell from that that I grew up on the East Coast then you're full of shit. Dominic was my grandfather's name, Edward was my father's name, and Cobb was the name of the first guy to crawl of the immigration boat at Ellis Island. Given the way my family tree tends to balance out, I strongly believe he may have robbed his bunk mate before leaving.

The Cobbs have always looked after their own.

But you Don't want family history. You don't want my reasons. You want my name and what it means.

The thing about names however is that they're transient. I've been Dominic Cobb since birth, but I've also been David Sommers, Andrew Charles, Chuck Beasbry and a number of other names. Such is the life of a thief. (Hell, once again given our luck, Cobb may have been an alias that started a dynasty of assholes climbing through history.

But that shows you the power that ideas have. Plant a name and a seed sprouts. Steal a name and that person is no longer themselves. What's in a name? asks a bard-

Identity, Legacy. Family.

My kids are Cobbs. James Miles Cobb and Philippa Cobb. Their legacy and mine are intertwined and for good or for ill they'll have to accept just who their dad was and the legacy that's carried with it. They'll bring good luck to the name, I can tell.

And they'll inherit a legacy of intelligence, resourcefulness...and a skill in thieving that might serve them well.

Unfortunately.

Title: I guess that's why it's raining diamonds.
Prompt: Write about something you know by heart.

I dreamed.

I dreamed dreams. If you google dreams- you get a bunch of really shitty interpretation websites - if you use your brain and actually look them up There is no universally agreed upon biological definition of dreaming.. I studied oneirology on a whim and Mal said that I ought to teach the class and I...

I dreamed. I loved it. You embrace more of life when you recognize that dreaming is most likely an attempt to accomplish a through undrestanding of the world as a whole. The more you take in and the more you see the more you can create.

That's what I do now. I create. I'm not god, not ever again but I'm his most favored prophet and you should do what she says shouldn't you?

Because if you don't I'll talk and we'll speak. I'll tell you lies and you'll keep your bitter truths close to your heart. An idea is the most infecteous kind of parasite. I'm the doctor pulling it out, I'm the wind in the night. By the time I'm done you won't even know your idea was there, your bank account, your numbers, your expansion plans, your hopes, your dreams, your fears.

They're mine.

But you don't want to believe it. That's why you're looking at me funny. See, you think that maybe with all of this skill I have you're probably in trouble. You might be in danger, you might be asleep.

But it's here isn't it? It's all real, the chair you're sitting in, the wind on your cheek, the sound of my voice, the feel of my hand on my gun pointing it at your temple. It's all real right? So if you don't tell me what I want to know I'll hurt you. I will shoot you., and you will die because it's all real.

right?

Title: Stretched
Prompt: 326: “Mourning is just extended self-pity."
WARNING Arthur/Cobb.

He promises himself it'll be the last time.

"Jesus Christ Dom, you're going to kill yourself."

He's promised

"You can't live in dreams son." Miles is sadder beyond words but the young man who's lost the best thing in his life is who he tries to comfort, "You can't."

Promised.

But promises were easy to break.

"Mourning is just extended self pity." Arthur's voice echoes in his head and he remembers hitting him full on in the face, so hard he crashed into the machinery before diving back into her arms.

They are together on the sand when Arthur appears, wet and bedraggled, "Cobb." He swallows, "come back with me." There is a struggle.

And he breaks.

He wakes with a horrible headache and he sees her with his waking eyes smiling at him, but it's Arthur and's holding him tight and shouting into the phone at the ambulance.

He'd promised her.. "Die with me."

Mourning in the end was just that.
