A woman sits in an antique armchair upholstered in rich green velvet, dark walnut accents polished and gleaming in the light. Her pale face is framed by a cascade of dark, wild curls, chin lifted, and she looks down the length of her nose to the ( Read more... )

[Chang more amused than anything.] No trial, we are all guilty here, done to death by slanderous tongue or our own misdeeds.

"All is for my Lord," Bellatrix states matter-of-factly. "I have no regrets, and shall serve whatever sentence these fools pass down to me. The Dark Lord shall know his own, and know that I remain faithful."

"Ah, but they do not wish a sentence upon you but 'redemption'! For you to cast away your old clothes and begin anew!" Is that not the most hilarious thing?

"What." It's not so much a question, as it's spoken far too flatly. She is not amused. "I dare say they shall get no such satisfaction from me. I am not one for tears and apologies."

What someone else said. They don't do that here. This is what happens after the judge, jury, and executioner.

Am I meant to care about any judgement upon me by fools?

Let me try to explain it to you as I understand it. You weren't judged by people to be brought here. You were judged by what comes after, and you were judged in such a way that whatever would have happened after that point that could count as the worst -- ceasing to exist, Hell, what have you -- has been stopped. Whatever brings us here intervenes before the ultimate sentence is carried out, for whatever reason, and we are given the opportunity to earn our lives back instead.

...You're probably dead, by the way.

Mozenrath. This is not a woman to antagonize.

Use caution.

[Blank staring for a moment. This week keeps getting worse and worse.]

This place is much different than Azkaban, Bellatrix.

Oh, dear Merlin. It's that filthy creature that managed to further sully the bloodline of the House of Black.

"I can see that." She never had accommodations like these in Azkaban. The lack of Dementors is also a tip-off. "Didn't Dolohov kill you?"

"Didn't Molly Weasley kill you?" He's bringing back Tonks, but if he mentions this to her, he's going to rage.

"Certainly not," Bellatrix asserts. "I wouldn't be defeated by a traitor to the blood like her." Oh, sweet denial.

"Dolohov always was inferior," smacks of the same lilt one might take to the phrase if you want something done right...

A second chance at what, precisely? I don't need a second chance. I was doing just fine with the first one.

It's a mistake. Whatever power has brought me here is under the impression that I desire some form of redemption.

I do not.
