Name: Wade Winston Wilson - AKA Deadpool
Fandom: Marvel
Timeline: Post Weapon-X program; living it up as the “Merc with a Mouth.” **NOTE: While I am not including the events of X-Men Origins: Wolverine in Wade’s canon, below it can be noted that I draw from it to place his age.**
Age: ~60
Appearance: Wade Wilson stands at 6’2” and weighs in at 210 lbs. Before the various surgeries performed by Department K, Wade considered himself an attractive man with blue eyes, brown hair, and slightly tanned skin. Now, however, as a product of the modified healing factor given to him, his body is horribly scarred to the point of disfigurement, and he is bald. He frequently laments his appearance being a grotesque cross between a pug and Ryan Reynolds - one of his canonical destructions of the fourth wall. However, if he isn’t undercover, he wears a mask and body suit to hide these; if he is, he wears skin appliances and a wig to ensure a “normal” appearance that will attract minimal attention.
Abilities: 1) Regenerative Healing Factor - he recovers from being stabbed, shot, or in any other way punctured within moments, in addition to being able to regrow limbs along with being able to survive any and all wounds to his brain and head (canon shows him being decapitated and still living); courtesy of this ability, he: has a strong resistance to most substances; is immune to all known diseases and infections; has a life span that has been extended to an unknown degree due to extreme slowing of the aging process; possesses telepathic immunity - telepathic attacks cannot harm him and his mind cannot be read because his cells regenerate to their original state too quickly. 2) Peak Human Strength - great, but not unnatural strength; he can lift in excess of 420 lbs, but not more than 800. 3) Superhuman Stamina -- Deadpool's musculature generates considerably less fatigue toxins than the muscles of an ordinary human being, granting him superhuman levels of stamina in all physical activities; he can physically exert himself at peak capacity for several days before fatigue begins to impair him. 4) Superhuman Agility. 5) Superhuman Reflexes. 6) Master Martial Artist. 7) Master Assassin. 8) Skilled Linguist. 9) Master of weaponry - he is proficient in all weapons and can learn any weapon in five minutes, though he is partial to guns, swords, and grenades.
Personality: Wade is technically one of the bad guys; he’s a mercenary, a gun for hire. However, his constant flux of sanity and undeniable mental instability leave him almost constantly in a cheery mood, or at least seemingly so. He tends to be rather annoying to most people due to the fact that he leaps between topics, rambles, and is very skilled at getting under people’s skin; because of this, others tend to find it very difficult to work with him. “I always forget (or just black out to spare myself the agony) what Wilson’s most lethal weapon is… his mouth! He’ll talk nonsense until you surrender or commit suicide.” -Domino. Wade is also prone to violent outbursts at the slightest provocation, though mentions of Bea Arthur (his Hollywood true love) are a sure way to derail him, at least for a moment.
History: Very little is known about Wade prior to the time that he joined Project X, other than that his mother died of cancer, his father was killed by a drunken friend, and he was dishonorably discharged from the U.S. Army Special Forces. He traveled frequently, pausing periodically to entertain various romances, and at one point served under the Oyakata’s tutelage as a sumo wrestler. Failing to complete an assignment for the ferst time, Wade fled Asia to relocate back to the United States. He met and fell in love with mutant teenage prostitute Vanessa Carlysle, only to break off their relationship after a mission to Zaire, since shortly after the mission he learned that he had contracted cancer.
Back in Canada, Wilson found hope in Department K, a special weapons development branch of the Canadian government, and volunteered to become a test subject in the superhuman enhancement project - also known as the Weapon X program. His cancer was temporarily halted with the implementation of a modified healing factor derived from James Howlett (Wolverine), and became active in a covert field unit, only to kill a teammate and consequently be ejected from the Weapon X Program and sent to another facility called the Hospice.
This facility was meant to be a government facility where failed superhuman enhancement operatives were treated, but in reality the Hospice’s patients served as experiments for Doctor Killebrew and his assistant. Killebrew subjected Wilson to various torturous experiments (from which it can be concluded Wade’s sanity fractured and broke) before finally, angrily tearing out his heart and leaving him for dead. Unexpectedly, Wade’s thirst for vengeance was so strong that it jump-started his healing factor, regenerating his heart, though it failed to cure his scarred body, before he eventually escaped.
After escaping the Hospice, Wade took the name Deadpool for himself and immersed himself deeply in mercenary work, once more living the life of a hired gun; during this time, Deadpool attained a teleportation device that he wears on his belt and uses periodically.
