Hughes' Investigation Notes

May 26, 2014 19:55

These are notes Hughes has written in a journal back at his house; a copy is written up in his small notepad just in case:

  • Milkman is capable of controlling people's minds through sheer willpower--if not that, then a device located elsewhere within Mayfield and/or Westport...
  • Milkman is generally unseen by the people in Mayfield, though many have died to his mind control.
  • Ryo Saeba located an underground bunker within the wreckage of a Westport City Hall...
  • Westport appears to have an exact build of Mayfield. -- Check for a bunker in Mayfield City Hall?
  • Within Westport Bunker it was mostly burned down, though there were wires from wreck that were definitely not from a 1950's American town.
  • Ryo Saeba and a little spirit named Kororo discover this, along with a burnt document that detailed the design of a hazmat suit--someone wrote a note to a man named MacCready; they wrote of their uncertainty of unleashing such a horrible creation. Chances are MacCready designed and/or deployed said suits.
  • Hazmat men within suits = gases? Toxic.
  • Westport filled with smog/toxic air. No available samples; possibly used on the previous residence of Mayfield to kill them or smoke them out?
  • Strange drawings within church depicting a child.
  • Drones may or may not be controlled by something remotely; perhaps something within Milkman territory. See if anyone has ever been able to enter his building?

How many years has it been since that first day in Mayfield? Sometimes it feels like one. Sometimes it feels like a hundred. Our perception of time is skewed beyond measure, and it’s not like we have any way of finding out for ourselves.

When I think about how long it took us to realize what was happening… It’s terrifying. How long was he in there, stewing in his own madness, before we caught on? The Achewood incident was the first time he... changed any of us, at least as far as we know, but what if we’re wrong? I look around at the other people here, their skin, their eyes, their hair, and it- every so often, something seems off. Somebody’s nose seems bigger than I remember, somebody’s hair color isn’t what I thought it would be.

Am I just being paranoid? Or was he “tinkering” with us long before Achewood? I think about it and it sends chills down my spine. He could have been changing us, warping us to suit his own little fantasies, turning us into completely different people... and we would never have known. These thoughts, these feelings, these memories from before Mayfield- are they really mine? Was I always a man named Richard Grey, or was I someone else entirely? I have no way of knowing, and to be perfectly frank, it scares the hell out of me.

We were so desperate for escape, so desperate for a life without fear and pain, that we handed the power of God over to a madman and then acted surprised when he turned on us. I always knew we were cowards, but I never realized we were fools until it was far too late.

Hughes Notes on Westport/Achewood

"Jane Smith's real name is actually Samantha Achewood. She's been droned into thinking she's lived in Mayfield all her life. Her real information is the following--she was born in Fairfield, Conneticut. She has two sisters--Susan and Lisa. Her favorite color was blue and she was a musician, she played the violin. This was all before a 'war'.

This war was more than likely the one which took place in Westport. For some reason, ritualistic or religious symbols depicting a little girl were scattered throughout the church there:

There was also a man in the war against those who rule Mayfield--his name was Evan, and he wrote the following letter to a man named Rick.

As for the mayor, his name is actually MacCready. He was either responsible for the creation OR deployment of the hazmat suit men. A burnt image of the hazmat men with the title PROTOCOL: INFECTION was found in a hidden bunker.

[Officer Grady is responsible for burning down the pharmacy--he's also responsible for droning...]
