Once more with feeling...

Hello all, I am sitting here listening to Hurricane Katrina as she rips branches from my trees and flings them in all directions possible, not a good night for sleeping obviously. The worst of the storm just mowed down Louisiana, we are much more fortunate than those closest to the Big Easy. I have prayed all day for those in the path of the ( Read more... )

Once I heard the hurricane was going to hit LA, I've been terribly worried about you. I'm glad your not near worst of it.

We just got phones back up, so there has been no way to contact anyone outside of your neighbors here for days. As soon as the storm was gone, I left and took the kids to Alabama and here I will stay until some level of sanity is put back into place. I love you guys, and thank you so very much for the prayers and thoughts. God knows we need them.

Love,

Linda

The people of Alabama have been wonderful, they opened their schools to us immediately so that we wouldn't fall behind. And yes, we did get flooded though I couldn't tell you how bad it is now compared to when I left. Since we left the support walls to Ponchatrain have fallen on a couple of sides which could be very very bad. My house is on high ground and I fully expect it to be there when I go back, but I left because of the stupidity that ensued afterward. I couldn't in good concious stay when I knew that the looting and the violence and craziness would start once the reality of how bad things were set in. Now that the troops have moved in I believe in my heart that we will be able to return in the coming weeks. Phones are totally useless, and the only thing a cellphone is good for here is a paper weight as the towers were destroyed. I couldn't even get a signal until I was two states away from my beloved Louisiana. The lack of communication is what is making this so much worse, even the police radios aren't functioning as ( ... )

Thanks for posting, darlin. I've been worried. Also been a bit concerned about you for a little while, not getting nearly enough Linda fixes.

Take care of yourself. I'll sacrifice something for you.

Love you too darlin.. bestroika September 2 2005, 22:53:06 UTC
I am out of Louisiana and staying with close friends in Alabama darlin, so never fear. When the initial reports of the storm came in, I knew that we would be close to it, but away from the worst parts of it. Fortunately we are okay, I have lost dear friends and I still have no contact with any of my family members...and if you could see the utter destruction and chaos you would understand why. I can't put it into words and I don't want too, but please keep your prayers directed towards efforts to bring in help. In my whole life I have never seen such complete desimation.

I love you darlin, and will do my best to keep folks posted.

Love,

Linda

Thank god you are okay! I've been worried about you. I'm so sorry to hear about the health troubles. I can only imagine how frustrating it is. It makes my own pale in comparison. *hugs*

Never worry about me honey, one way or another I am going to be just fine. Katrina got close, close enough to scare the hell out of me and we didn't stay to see what the insanity of the coming days would bring. I took the kids and left before the looting could start, our town got hit with the flooding and she tore trees and buildings up everywhere. When I left we still had no phones. I am searching through the red cross for members of my family and of course am having no luck. Please keep us in your prayers, the people here need them desperately, and for all those seperated and walled away from those that they love or those that love them.

Safe in Alabama,

Linda and kids
