You might not know this but even as a sin, one of the seven deadly to be precise (and also the best if you ask me), we do occasionally agree with the "good" book. Tis the season to love thy neighbor... or fuck their brains out. Either way. Everybody needs a little lot of Lust in their lives ( Read more... )

Silently, he moved to stand behind her, his fingers absently tracing the ink exposed on her bare neck. What was driving him to act this way, only God knew. But never had he been so honed to another being in all his life.

That the other being was her... Well. That made all the difference.

"Have I ever mentioned just how utterly perfect you are?"

Delilah shut her eyes, heaving a deep, satisfied sigh as his fingers traced the floral tattoo on her neck. It was unexpected but welcome, more than she thought it would be.

She still wanted to kill him just because she felt like it...but for the moment, she was content with what she had: him.

"Only when you weren't busy mentioning what a wreck I am." she teased, turning her head to smile at him. "You could be kind of a harsh teacher sometimes...back in the day, I mean."

"Because I knew you better than I knew anyone. Better than I knew myself, even. Because I knew that teaching you correctly would one day make the difference between life as we knew it or death." Leaning forward, his lips brushed against her neck lightly. "I failed in that battle, Delia. I fell, years ago. But you? You have yet to fall. And from the moment I lay eyes upon you, I knew you never would."

Her head tipped as his lips touched her skin, a pleasant shiver running up her spine. In a rush, all the pain, regret, and sheer loneliness of the last thousand years washed over her. She wanted to tell him everything right then...how far she'd truly fallen since she'd lost him, how miserable she'd been every waking second, how the dull ache of solitude did her more harm than any blade ever had.

Turning in his arms finally, she reached up to frame his face between her hands, drawing him down so his forehead touched hers.

"It's hard to fall when you're already in Hell." she breathed. "And that became my home between the last time I saw you...and the first second I found you again."

A smile spread on his lips, a sight that was rare even when she knew him in his first lifetime as a Vindicis. Reaching up, he stroked her hair back out of her face with his fingertips, nodding lightly. "'You will find Heaven on Earth, but darkness will overcome you first,'" he quoted, knowing she would remember that night at the gypsy's camp. "You are my Heaven, Delia." With that, he leaned in and kissed her hungrily, like he never had experienced the feeling before in all his life.

"You talkin' about my angelic nature, or Paradise by the Dashboard Light?" she teased softly, giggling as he silenced her with a kiss that sang through her like summer lightning. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she kissed him back and let herself sink into the sensation...the solid muscle of the chest and body pressed to hers, his fingers on her skin, the taste of him on her lips. He was as much a fortress as he had ever been.

The only difference was that he was her fortress now.
