I just got offered a FTE position as well. The pay will be slightly less than my contract rate, but it will be worth it to get the benefits.

Yeah, it's a good deal if you have no plans to work any other jobs on the side. Getting medical benefits means you get twice what the medical costs (since you don't pay for it out of paycheck, but it is still paid for). At least in my business you have to sell your soul to the corporation, but it's a small price to pay for what is basically $7-10k more per year for singles and even more for married people with kids. Plus paid vacation (which you would normally get nothing for). Most benefit plans come with some extra benefits that can be worth up to another $5k or so a year as well. Hell, tuition comp alone could be that much. And then a lot of places offer subsidized fitness/internet/etc. And then there's not having to pay FICA tax if you were a 1099 employee.

Hope your opportunity pans out. Where will you be working? Location, company, kind of work?

My job description wouldn't change. I'd still work from home as I do now, working with math content on predictive academic assessment products (i.e. writing math tests).

Oh yeah, I see. Do you like that kind of work? Why?

Are these tests administered on large populations? Say, 100,000+? I wonder what kind of psychological factors you have to consider in such a large pool.
