nishino has really good food. that was delicious, probably the best food i've had in seattle so far. got the omakase and also sake served in a section of frozen bamboo. normally after eating a dinner's worth of raw fish i kind of feel like i just ate a bunch of raw fish, but this time the only unfortunate after effect was wanting more raw fish. escolar scares me, but it is delicious!

also, for the record, what is normally referred to in restaurants as "chilean sea bass" is officially called "patagonian toothfish".

It's distinctly my favorite Japanese restaurant in Seattle, even though it's more expensive than most. The fish is amazing. Try the toro next time you're there.

Was it me who recommended it to you? Who did you go with?

nah we picked it out of the zagat guide. went with matt, chris, and william, the latter two of which are houseguests from the EAST.

Wow. That sounds great. I'm not so adventurous with raw fish and food that you have to Google. :-) Yikes though, the warnings for escolar are a little... disturbing. The mochi sounds amazing.

Was this any special occasion?

during dinner it was just "super white tuna", right, and everybody's had tuna.

except when it is secretly mackerel.
