the california trip was grand and glorious, if slightly short on preplanning.

we arrived in san francisco to realize we were too early for checkin, and thus wandered around fisherman's wharf for a day. saturday we accidentally ran into a parade, met up with akiva and boriss, lunched in chinatown, went to the palace of the legion of honor where ( Read more... )

Gosh. I love your description of the French Laundry. It sounds exceedingly cool, though bordering on intimidating. I'm not sure I want telepathic waiters. ;-)

Chez Panisse sounds awesome too. Might have to try that sometime.

chez panisse is highly recommended. ann liked it more than the french laundry, and it's also easier to get a seat at.

the downstairs "restaurant" needs reservations a month in advance. the upstairs "cafe" is much easier, though exactly how much i don't know.
