Some judges will waive restitution if a person does prison time. Also, on first offenses, a person usually gets probation, community service and restitution. It's probably the only way she's ever going to learn not to do this again. If not stopped, an embezzler (of sorts) will misappropiate forever. My mom had to file charges against her niece that she shared a birthday with. It was a nightmare. My heart goes out to you dearest.

good luck with all the family/money/legal stuff, Mal. I hope things turn out and that you and your family can heal.

Mal,
Good luck with this indeed. I can't imagine how awful this must be on so many levels, year after year.

i remember reading rumblings about this every once in a while in your journal and i've always wondered what it was about. why did i never realize it was your sister? yet again it's something that i'm sure is far too complicated, but then i guess it's no surprise as you just happen to be one of the most complex people that i know.

Consider this offer seriously, Kaye. It is my very last.

now follow through. it sounds like the last thing she needs is another chance but if you're willing to give her one make sure it's the last one and that there are real consequences for her actions (or lack there of).

Oh, it's already in the legal arena and has been for years. This is
technically the last chance I can give her anyway, truly, before
matters are pushed into the ruling judge's hands to make of it what he
will.

In truth, it isn't really even another chance so much as one final
attempt to get the fuck out of this entire nightmare.

Thanks for your support, Kaiser, honestly.
