It wasn't sunny out, but the weather in Bete Noire was funny and you never knew when UV rays or whatever would poke through. So he was covered in his blanket, wondering what the hell had happened to Nikita and tracking her down.
To this boat.
And the perky little blonde sprawled on the deck. In the rain.
"Best get inside, pet," he said from the dock, blanket covering his head. "Bit cold for the likes of you to be out in this rain, an' 'kita probably wouldn't be happy if I let you die."
"Gone. She's gone and it's supposed to be sad, but I think I lost my foot." Her hand moved to reach for it, taking a firm hold of it, but it still felt like it was gone.
"She can't just... go home," Spike protested, though he didn't have a good reason why. Thing was, he'd miss her. Irritating as she'd been, hardly anyone here gave a rat's ass about him. Spike was an unfortunate combination of a social animal and impossible to live with. "When'd you see her last?"
She sighed slowly, exhaling almost all the air in her lungs. It made her feel a bit empty, it also ached a bit.
Taking a quick breath, she shrugged again. "Uh... last week? Maybe a bit before that. She's quiet. Stealthy. The sort that doesn't move the bed when the get up from it."
Spike's eyes cut to the side, and he smiled wickedly. "That so, pet?" he said, leaning closer. "Anythin' else you want to tell me, 'bout you an' your girl and bed?"
Jo leaned in closer too, mostly because he did. "She's not my girl," she replied lowly. "Why are you wearing a blanket?" Her second statement still had the same low intimate tone that the first one did. Which didn't fit the question at all, but she didn't actually care.

Rolling onto her stomach, she set her phone down and got to her knees, "I'm fine. It's hardly rain. You're not my mom."
All of that. All stated really quickly and with a smile. Then the smile shifted to a frown as her head tipped to the side, "Why are you in a blanket?"

"No, I'm not," he confirmed. "An' I'm in a blanket because... it's cold."
Yeah.

"She's just gone. Gone." Jo let the word elongate a bit.
"Gone..." It was a funny word in her head and hearing it out loud made it seem even more amusing. "Gone... with the... what's that movie?"

"Wind," he said. "Focus, pet. Been lookin' for her everywhere. Where's she gone to?"
