He hadn't yet been down to the basement to check out the main power. There hadn't been any big problems yet, and he'd learned most of what he needed to know about 21st-century electrics from his short stay at Craig Owen's. Mostly how to modify them - but you had to understand something first before you could mess about with it with any kind of effectiveness.

Still, it was worth a look. Also, he was curious what else he might find down there.

Hellcat followed him, galumphing a bit as she descended the stairs on her still-stubby legs, wings folded down close to her back.

They both reached the bottom at roughly the same time, and in the somewhat grey light of the basement, the Doctor could just make out the stalactites and stalagmites of the cave in the corner.

"Oh," he said, as a smile bloomed on his face and his fingers made happy little wiggling motions. "This is worth it already."

Some knew he was supposed to let other people into the basement, and that's why there was that single bulb at the foot of the stairs now, but he still scowled at hearing someone come down the stairs unannounced. He scooped up Twic from where he'd been letting him play among the rocks of the storywalk in his cave and put the tiny dragon into his hair before peering out.

"... Oh, it's you. Hello."

"Hello, Some ovMennet. Nice digs." He did a turn around as he headed farther into the basement, taking in the scenery - who'd have thought there'd be scenery in a basement? "I mean, you said you had a cave, but this is - actually a cave! That's very..." He stopped and searched for the word. "...homey." He said it like it wasn't quite the word he was looking for, but it'd do.

"No, it's actually a basement." Some came out from the cave, cupping a hand over Twic protectively. "It only looks like a cave because I wished for home."

"Still, that's one powerful wish." He still wondered about that whole event. People getting what they wanted, just by wishing... A part of him wondered how the city was still standing.

"I actually came down here to check out the main power supply. I'm all official now. An official. Hostel staff electrician, at your service... in case the - electrics in your cave ever develop a fault." Right, that was probably never happening, but hopefully Some appreciated the offer.

"But I wished to be at home," he pointed out.

"The electric things are over there, with the tank for hot water." He pointed, though it was dark enough in that corner that a human wouldn't be able to see them. "... You couldn't take the electricity out of my cave, could you? I do not use it." Or like it.

The Doctor reached into his jacket and pulled out - a torch. Lesson learned from his jaunt through abandoned buildings a while back.

"Sure, if you want," he called over his shoulder as he headed toward the corner Some had indicated. "Depending on how many circuits are down here, it might take more work or less, but I could do it."

His dragon, four feet from snout to tail and black all over, was sniffing at a stalagmite.

Some is not quite aware that he's baring his teeth at the flashlight, but he's doing it. Vast, vast dislike.

"I would like that. I could pay you for it, if it's okay with Lowell... Is that a dragon?"

The Doctor considered being sarcastic - but that would probably be lost on Some.

"I followed her across a rooftop, she followed me home. Apparently that makes her my responsibility." His tone suggested he didn't particularly mind.

"I was given one too." He reached up, untangling the fingerlength gray lizard from his black hair and eliciting a flurry of tiny flapping. "Sht, sht, Twic," he murmured soothingly. The name was two clicks with a whistle between them, a sound that began at the front of the mouth and ended at the throat. "I... I am not sure mine is large enough to thrive. I think he was cast out."

...and the Doctor whirled right around, came striding back to get a look at the tiny dragon.

"Well, hello," he crooned, reaching a tentative finger toward the tiny dragon. "I didn't know they came that small."

"I don't think they're supposed to... He's very sluggish, and I have to feed him all the time. He likes fish okay, that's easy to get. He sleeps if he's not eating, and he cries if I set him down for even a moment. So I mostly keep him under my hat."

The Doctor kept his eyes on Twic with a pleasant smile, waggling his finger at the little guy. So cute.

"Odd about these dragons," he said, almost under his breath, musing to himself. "They all came from the same mother, yes? Yet none of them look alike."

The tiny dragon huffed out a haze of steam, swinging its head back and forth, its finely pointed tail wrapped snugly around Some's fingers.

"Who knows how many parents they had? They could be mixed, couldn't they?"

"Could be. They were already starting to hatch when I arrived."

"Ptera brought him to me. I have been avoiding the beach, I do not very much like dragons in general. Not you," he added soothingly to the tiny thing, holding it up against his neck, wanting it to stay warm. "But the big ones with fire."
