He'd lost her.

Hellcat didn't like to stay around him all the time - there was a reason he'd included 'cat' in her name; she could be in turns affectionate and aloof, be following him around one day and then spend the next day lounging in a corner the next.

But her moods weren't this changeable. He'd lost her while walking down a corridor. Just turned around at one point and she was gone. Given her abilities...

He crept down the corridor, looking closely at every surface. She was visible if you examined closely enough.

"Hellcat?" he called - not too loudly. The calling was incidental to the searching. "Hellcat?"

"Do they say that?"

He pulled away from her gently, plucking her hand off of his tie - and reaching up with his other hand to adjust it. Make certain she didn't knock it askew.

"Not really looking to buy anything."

Bonnie released him easily enough, and she turned to cast a dutiful sweeping glance around the hallway. "Still no signs of your dragon," she commented lightly. "Anyway, relax. It's just an expression."

He didn't smell like a human, that was for sure. The novelty of it was tempting her, but he was being more than a little stubborn. She wasn't entirely sure how she was going to get this one alone, and biting him in the middle of a hallway was not a great idea.

"Walk me back to my room?" she asked.

His eyes flickered about the empty hallway.

"Worried about tripping over anything invisible?"

Bonnie smiled at him.

"Doctor, I think we both know that the things you don't see coming are always more dangerous than anything in plain view."

Her shoulder lifted in a half-shrug. "Of course, you can still say no."

She was after something. It was utterly transparent. It could have been something incredibly mundane... or it could be another clue as to what she was.

Honestly, he was more worried about what he would do if it was the first option.

"And what happens when we get back to the room?" he asked, a bit carefully. "Do I get another hint?"

"You don't have women ask you back to their rooms very often, do you?"

She took a few steps backwards, still smiling mischievously. "Yes, you can have another hint. Come on, it's this way." Bonnie crooked her finger at him and turned around to begin heading back to her room.

He shrugged at the question, grinning sheepishly. Let her interpret that how she wanted.

He followed her, still on his guard, although he didn't expect anything to actually happen until they were at her room. "Did you ever wind up finding a job?"

"Yes, thank you for asking. I'm working at Hellsing, actually. Helping the helpless, so on and so forth."

She fell into an easy step behind him, keeping her hands to herself. She could do small talk. If nothing else Bonnie was very good at talking. "What about you? Are you working anywhere?"

"Hellsing. Blimey, you lot are everywhere." That or he just happened to keep running into them. That seemed like it could be a dangerous coincidence. Potentially.

"Got myself a position here. Maintenance, electrics, that sort of thing."

"Bloody right we are," she shot back, mimicking his accent again. "Did I mention I'm Scottish? Well, I'm not. My grandmother was, but I've been. Several times. I thought about ending up there someday but--"

Well, she wasn't going to get into all of that right now.

"Plans changed. Anyway, glad you found yourself some work."

She had been to Scotland several times, or she had been Scottish several times? The way she worded it made it sound like the latter. She may have just given him another clue.

Super-human abilities, super-human lifespan. Definitely edging toward the not-human option by this point. Although she had obviously come from Earth, and nothing about her outward appearance suggested non-human. Then again, neither did anything about his. Inconclusive.

"Yes. Good for me, having a job. What'll they think of next..."

"Wouldn't have pegged you for an electrician, though."

She glanced up at him, and a look of mischief flittered across her features.

"Know how to handle a tool, then?"

"Several. Mostly a screwdriver, but I get on alright." If he hadn't caught on to the flirting thing much earlier, the double meaning of that would have been entirely lost on him. As such, it was merely mostly lost. She might still get the sense that he was deflecting.

"I'll bet."

At that, she reached up and lightly rapped her knuckles against a door, much like any of the other doors in the hallway. Turns out, they hadn't been very far from her room. "Here we are," she chimed. "And look at that. Safe as houses."

"Yes," he said with a little grin down at her, and knocked his own fist lightly against the door jamb. "Safe as a hostel, anyway."
