Wedneseday night - CGM gruesomething May 24 2011, 21:49:24 UTC
Hunger transmuted temporarily to restlessness, Some was out in the city when he found himself near the mansion. He hadn't seen it from the outside before, and he paused in the street a moment, looking up. He could see which one was Jim's window from here, and waved at it, not really expecting the man to be there, or to see him.

Jim did, however, as luck would have it. At first he wasn't sure if the tiny figure was waving at him, but after looking closer he realized it was Some. He waved back, smiling, because he was glad they'd worked out what might have become an issue or two.

Some gestured to the window. Would Jim mind if he came up?

Jim had been sort of twitchy and hungry lately, but there wasn't any reason to deny Some. He nodded, waving him in, thinking how neat it was Some could do that.

He vanished from the street, and a moment later blinked into place in Jim's room, a few feet from the window and hopefully not on top of anything.

"Ah, hello."

Jim grinned at him. "Hello," he said. "I still wish I could do that. Come sit down." He motioned towards the chairs and began moving himself. "How have you been?"

"I wonder if it can be taught to humans. It is something I had to learn, when I was young." He took a chair, folding his feet up under himself comfortably. "But not all grues can learn it, either.

"I've been okay... Busy this week. It is a strange week."

Jim somehow doubted it, but... "It would be very useful. But I've never heard of humans being able to do anything like that."

He sat, leaning back. And frowned, slightly.

"It has," he agreed, but that almost went without saying. "How so?"

"Just..." He made a gesture, a closing of his two hands like a trap. "Like the city is collapsing inward, like an empty stomach. That feeling. Everywhere."

Jim's frown deepened, and he rose automatically.

"Yes," he said, absently worried and moving to one of his shelves. "Can I get you something? I should have offered before. I'm sorry."

"Oh." Some sat straight, with a bit of a deer-in-the-headlights look, made cartoonishly obvious by his overlarge eyes. "No please, thank you. I have been managing."

Jim's brow furrowed. He couldn't understand the look of alarm. Maybe Some just thought he was being polite. Maybe there was some Grue custom Jim was stepping in. Well that wasn't more important than Some's health or comfort.

"No, really," he said. "Let me." There was a touch of something a little too earnest in his manner, though perhaps only noticeable to someone who knew him well. "I have plenty."

"It is okay, really." He smiled, though there was something awkward about it. "I am managing. Take care of yourself and the people here."

Now Jim was frowning.

"There's plenty of food," he said, his own hoarding notwithstanding. "And I'm hungry--won't you join me?"

He wrung his hands, the long fingers twisting together. "I- Jim, I am not hungry, now. Perhaps another time, maybe?"

Jim eyed him suspiciously, because he was hungry enough lately to not quite believe in a state that didn't include it. Then he shrugged.

"Okay," he said, shrugging and sitting back down. "No need to be nervous. I'm no going to force you to eat."
