The voice comes from behind him: Tony, with Uhura farther away, stands in the corridor with a curious, blank face.

He's not supposed to listen to Topher, but they can still be friends. Topher's nice, anyway.

"A rat. A nasty rat. If you see one, don't let it bite you. If it does, go see Doctor Saunders, she'll make sure it doesn't get infected."

Not that he's seen her. Which may well be a good thing since he can't be sure how she'll react to him. Topher pauses in his pellet laying and turns to face the guy properly.

"And how are you today, Tony?"

He shrinks a little, head ducking--if he gets hurt, he needs to see Dr. McCoy or Dr. Halverson. He's not supposed to listen to Topher. "I finished eating my dinner," he says, then lowers his eyes to the pellets. Asks, "What does a rat look like?"

"Good for you. What did you have? I'm kinda hungry now myself." He follows Tony's gaze and then looks back at him again. "You haven't seen a rat? Well, I guess I could see if I can find a picture of one to show you. There's a really cool story about rats, actually. Called the Pied Piper. You might like that one."

"Rice, with vegetables," he answers, trailing off--the meals often have rice in them. They have a lot of it. But he's more interested in the story, and it shows in the tilt of his head. "Uhura tells me stories before I sleep," he says. No one else has had one.

He nervously gives Tony a thumbs up sign.

Tony nods for Uhura, the story forgotten for now, but then he looks down to his hands and turns them palm-up. He always washes them before a meal, but he's not supposed to listen to Topher...

Maybe he should just wait until Uhura tells him to.

"It tastes nice," he responds, while his hands drop back to his side.

Uhura's already learned a few things about taking care of Tony. For example, that he touches everything he passes. Which is why she's ready with a little package of disinfecting wipes. She pulls one out and hands it to him. "Wipe your hands with this, Tony."

Then she looks down and surveys what Topher is doing. "What happens when hey die in the walls?" Cause that... that could get fairly smelly. After a moment's thought, she holds out the package of wipes out to the twitchy man, offering him one.
