In was bright and sunny outside, but Christine was holed up in the library, doing research. She was sitting at a long table by herself with various medical textbooks spread out before her and a notebook directly in front of her. Every so often, she looked away from a book to scribble something down in her notebook or to grab a paper page marker with sticky stuff on the back to mark a page before turning it.

Romana was also in the library, working on her thesis. She had so much more to add now that she'd met not one, but two more Doctors. And somehow, they were existing in the same place without causing a paradox. It was fascinating, really. She didn't even notice there was someone else working on something as well, until she got up to see if there were any books on psychofugal trauma.

Christine needed to give her eyes a break, so she sat back, giving them a quick rub. She noticed the other woman right away, since there weren't many people in the library to begin with, and Christine couldn't help but wonder what the other woman was reading.

Then again, she didn't really want to bother her, so she settled for giving her a friendly smile.

Romana sighed as she flipped through the nearest book at a rapid pace. Well. Rapid to a human, anyway. The information was rather archaic, but she had the feeling much of it would be.

Then, she realized the other woman was smiling at her, and she nodded. "Doing research as well?" she asked curiously.

"Yeah," she answered, looking at the ridiculous amount of books surrounding her. "Twenty-first century medicine. You?"

Romana wrinkled her nose in disdain. "Goodness, are those the most advanced medical texts they've got?" She hoped not.

Christine knew that look. It had been the look on her own face when she realized the hospital still used needles and stitches.

"Unfortunately, yes. I work at the hospital so I have to read up on all these outdated medical techniques. It's so barbaric."

Romana relaxed a little. "Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one who feels that way. What century are you from, then?" she wondered, moving to join Christine at her table.

Christine moved a bit of her mess out of the way to give the newcomer some space. "Twenty-third Century Earth; United Federation of Planets and all that good stuff. But I'm in Starfleet so I've traveled through space a bit. I'm Christine."

The "United Federation of Planets" and "Starfleet" didn't ring a bell to Romana, but it was possible this woman was from another universe entirely. Of course, she wasn't terribly familiar with that part of history anyway, particularly in that area of space.

"Romana, pleasure to meet you. I've only visited Earth twice," she admitted.

"Hi, Romana. What planet are you from?" The woman seemed to carry the cool aloofness of a Vulcan, but not the pointed ears of one.
