Spike jogged a bit, catching up.
"Look, before you say anythin', I'm sorry about the other day. Was a bad time, and I want you to know I've turned over a new leaf. I'm a new man, here on out. Just hope you'll give me that chance."

He's tried to kill her? He was a vampire? But now he cared about her? This guy was nuts. Still, he seemed upset, and she felt a sudden urge to try and make him less sad.
"I'm sure you're capable of love," she insisted. "I mean, you obviously care enough to tell me all that and not try to take advantage or anything. And apparently, you helped my sister out when I--uh--"
Died? She'd died? That was weird too. Apparently she'd gotten better.
"Look," she said instead, "That's all a lot of information to process and it's a little overwhelming, but if it means anything, I obviously trust you. That Damon guy I met earlier, I definitely felt on edge around him, but I feel a lot more secure with you. That has to mean something, right?"

He glanced over at her sharply.
"Believe me, not sure you feelin' 'secure' is a compliment. But... doesn't matter. Just need you well again. You're all kittenish an' vulnerable. Wouldn't want anyone but me takin' advantage."

"Well, lucky that I have you to keep me safe, then." Feeling very secure in this whole arrangement, she rested her head against his shoulder as they walked. [ possibly like a certain redhead did in the cemetery not too long ago. ]

"Always," he said quietly, wishing it had been true. But she didn't remember him failing her. Didn't remember him helping, either, but that seemed to matter less.
He looked up as they reached the mansion, which looked a bit more Angel than Buffy to him. "Here we are, then," he said. "Home creepy home."
Reply
"Thanks."
A beat, and then "You know, I didn't catch your name."
Reply
"Spike," he said. He tried not to be hurt, again, but... at least she was treating him decent.

It was, admittedly, a ridiculous name. A more appropriate name for an oversized dog than a handsome British man, but the guy seemed upset enough about the situation already. She wouldn't poke fun at his name, upset him any further.
"Thank you, Spike." She leaned up and kissed his cheek. Began walking toward the house but then paused, turning to look at him. "I'll see you around?"
Reply
"Yeah," he said hoarsely. "Probably sooner than you'd like."
