"Merlin's beard, will you relax?"

Draco rolled his eyes, straightening up slightly before shooting a quirk of a smile towards one of the cameras. It was only polite, after all, and definitely not the first time he'd been in front of cameras. It was admittedly far nicer than the last time he'd been photographed, though it was disconcerting to think that the photos that resulted wouldn't end up moving to show off just how incredibly smug the blond was to be at such an event. "They're called cameras; I certainly hope you have them back home, what with everything else you have."

"Not long," Draco replied as he began to walk up the carpet, letting the cameras capture them as they strode along pointedly, like they not only were born to be there, but also were more than comfortable in the limelight. Even if neither of them were particularly important beings. "And smile properly. I'd rather not have to molest you in front of all these people so you actually look like you're enjoying yourself. Ianto'd kill me."

"I'd rather Ianto like me than the reporters; they did enough of that back home, and I don't fancy them picking into my personal life wherever I go," he murmured, hand resting at the small of Zero's back to steer him along. He was quite flattered that Zero was insisting upon looking at him in order to smile properly, but he was going to run into someone that way.

He almost didn't notice the tail looped around his body slightly; his attention was so divided between everything around them - a lingering paranoia that couldn't be quelled, no matter how safe he felt at any given point in time - and the conversation at hand that he tended not to notice minor things like that. Zero's words seemed to make him slightly more tense, but it only showed in a brief twitch in the corner of his mouth as he continued to steer Zero forward, and slightly ahead of him upon their arrival at the doors.

"Sounds like an absolute riot, that does," he offered, realising belatedly that not replying probably made him look awkward.

"Of course not," he replied quickly, gesturing for Zero to head into the ballroom before him. "I had something on my mind."

The pointed use of the past tense was perhaps only somewhat obvious in his tone; it was much clearer in his face, which had returned back to its almost smug state of before. It wouldn't do to dwell on the past while he didn't have to, while he could return back to the good old days of attending swanky parties without a care in the world, and always with someone lovely on his arm. This was no exception, and he shouldn't make it seem like it was one. Especially not when Zero's tail was trailing around him almost protectively.

"I'm fairly sure you'll get the chance to eat something; I don't really plan on leaving that early. Were you?" He asked, glancing over at Zero in mild amusement.

Draco didn't care if he was seen with another man, nor did he mind being armcandy for the evening; the feeling was mutual, and he moved closer to Zero was they made their way into the extravagant ballroom.

Draco doubted that any of them would be judging Zero; they would probably be hard-pressed to even notice him, particularly since the crowd was so thick that one man with a tail would probably be overlooked in favour of the more wildly dressed people.

"Kidnapping me to alleviate your own boredom? How devious," he drawled, glancing around to catalogue any immediate threats. "Care to fill me in on these 'more interesting things'?"

That would certainly help, especially considering Draco still hadn't said anything about it. Nor did he plan to, considering how soft it continued to be.

"Then I sincerely hope you get bored quickly. You've thusly captured my attention." Draco's eyes slid to Zero then, watching him studiously instead of the crowd around them.
