Tues, 8th - Draco and Zero alphaophiuchi November 10 2011, 00:37:07 UTC
Zero had been dragging Draco around for roughly...well, as long as it had been since the island had been discovered and Zero was well enough to traipse about on it. It was a tad exasperating, but fun enough sometimes, and it seemed to get him out of work. Somehow. He had stopped asking.

"I swear to God, if I have to walk much further..." Draco muttered to himself, stomping after Zero through under-brush, and smacking another offensive tree branch out of the path of his face.

There was, indeed, beach. Somehow the two men had managed to find their way back to the beach they'd originally set foot on, even though they'd ended up at the very edge of it. Much further, and they'd have found a sheer drop into the water instead.

But no, they'd found beach. The white sand, the thinner concentration of vegetation... the oddly featureless section right there, no trees or bushes growing in a space that was roughly square and roughly the footprint of a large garage. Odd.

That really was odd. Catching up to Zero, Draco stared at the beach for a moment, trying to decide if it was safe to head over or not. After all, it was a bloody island; no one could really say what was on it, or if it would try to kill them, or anything like that. Guarantees of safety were out the window.

"What the hell?" He asked, furrowing his brow at the expanse of white sand and hesitantly heading towards it.

No trap, but there was an oddly hollow sounding 'thunk' as the shoe hit the sand. A 'thunk' that sounded nothing like a shoe hitting sand should sound.

"Are your shoes the first thing you sacrifice always? I'm never buying you another pair, if so," Draco commented idly, giving Zero a look as he noted the 'thunk'. Sand didn't 'thunk', thanks very much. Even being a sheltered little dungeon brat like he was, he knew that.

So he strode proudly forward, pausing a few feet into the square and digging the toe of his shoe in somewhat curiously.

And hit wooden planks a few inches down.

That was interesting.

"Oi. Come here." He gestured Zero over, crouching down where he stood to brush some of the sand away until a few inches of the planks were visible.

Not dynamite, and not treasure. Not the kind of treasure most people thought of, anyway. If Zero kept digging he'd just keep kicking up sand and he'd keep revealing more weather worn planks.

In the very center of the square, two recessed metal handles held together by a lock and chain so old they were more rust than metal.

"What in the world is dynamite?" Regardless, Draco was rather impressed that he didn't really have to get his hands dirty here. A flick of his wand and the sand begins to swirl away into piles to the sides, until they can finally see planks and the handles.

"A chain. Fabulous," Draco drawled sarcastically, crossing over to it and giving it a swift kick.

Which was enough to break the lock and several links of the chain.

Oh good. One less thing to worry about. He glanced back over his shoulder towards Zero curiously, stepping aside in case Zero wanted to open it up first.

"Yes. Of course. I'd definitely want to off my boyfriend that way; I'm just that wonderful a person." Draco rolled his eyes, bending down to give the handles a tug.
