Who: Sirius and OPEN
What: Sirius takes some time to relax and heal. Literally.
Where: The healing spring (or if you want to meet somewhere else, I can say Sirius wandered there afterward. Let me know in your tag.)
When: Thursday, whenever.
Notes: I'm only having Sirius only take a few sips because I don't want to heal him up completely ( ( Read more... )

Draco had been wandering around, largely on his own while Zero took to exploring. The alone time had been nice - almost necessary - after so much time with the other man. He didn't really notice Sirius by the spring when he arrived, keeping largely in the other's blind spot for a time as he approached and sat down beside it, tentatively dipping a finger in to see maybe if it was going to give him some kind of poor reaction to imperfection or not. Nothing happened, so he cupped one hand, taking a small sip of the water.

"The water's a bit magical," Sirius warned Draco, only noticing him after he took a sip. "Seems to have done a number on me, but nothing bad. Just a bit of healing, far as I can tell."

Draco stopped mid-sip as he realised he was being spoken to, and immediately dumped the remaining water back into the spring when he realised it was Sirius.

"Why should I believe you that it's just a bit of healing? And healing what?"

"I starved for twelve years, Malfoy. But look at me now," he told him, smiling a bit. "Not too shabby, am I?" Well, he was still thin, but it wasn't as bad as it used to be.

"Don't know, you still look rather rubbish to me," Draco replied, pursing his lips somewhat. He did have to admit that Sirius was looking a fair bit better than perhaps the last time they spoke, but that didn't mean he was going to admit it out loud.

Regardless, he did dip his hand back into the spring, taking another slow sip.

Sirius just shook his head. "Careful, I wouldn't drink too much. No idea if it's got any funny side effects, aside from the healing."

He was partially being a bastard here, and partially being genuine. He really didn't actually know if there were any other side effects...but he hadn't experienced any so far.

Draco eyed him, finishing off his sip and drying his hand on his pant leg. "Why are you being so nice to me?"

It was weird above everything else; what did he say to this? He felt like he owed Sirius something, or like there was something in this water to make people a tad too nice. It was disconcerting.

"I'm not being nice," Sirius huffed. "Just stating the ridiculously obvious."

Draco narrowed his eyes thoughtfully, still wary about the entire notion. First telling him about his father's presence at Hellsing, now warning him about the water. Careful, Sirius: if you don't watch yourself, someone might think you cared about the brat.

"Right. Because I trusted everything on this island - in this city, for that matter - absolutely."

Sirius shrugged. "You started drinking the water without considering the possibility of negative effects. Bit stupid, really."

"You didn't die. Maybe I figured it wouldn't treat me any different," he replied dryly, rolling his eyes.

"That 'maybe' is awfully convincing," Sirius returned, just as dryly.

"Of course it is. That's because I'm really very sure of myself. I realise this is a bit of a foreign concept to you, Black," Draco stared blandly at the other man, "But some of us have self-confidence."

That last comment stung -- he didn't have any self-confidence, not now. But he could pretend. "Some of us have common sense, too, but some of us are clearly lacking."

In all honestly, neither did Draco; he put up a neat façade, but in the end, it was just smoke and mirrors. They had more in common than they both thought, Sirius and Draco did. "What a terrible comeback," he drawled, rolling his eyes. "Is that really the best you can come up with?"
