So, this Saturday I'm off on a not-so-well-deserved Easter vacation, making stops at Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Paris, and London. :D Paris makes me slightly apprehensive, as I speak approximately zero French, but my friend has promised to guide me. I'll drift back to Swansea around the 2nd, to do some work and hang out with Dave, and then my ( Read more... )

1) Paris and FUCKING LONDON! I hate you oh so much. Take many a' pictures so I can live vicariously through you.
2) Who is this Dave character? Is he stealing you from me?
3) You should name your first child Hay-on-Wye (regardless of gender).
4) You've been going to too many pubs lately. Don't become a lush!
5) This Pi day business is silly. All they do is chalk the campus with lots of numbers. I think instead, they should make blueberry pies and give them to you and me. Or we could throw pies at each other a la Nickelodeon game shows circa 1995.
6) I miss you and love you to pieces!

is hay-on-wye a sandwich? anonymous March 16 2005, 04:42:26 UTC
yo,

tis kevin once more. enjoy your trip about northwestern Europe, Laura and I just ate our ways through New Orleans, Calvin Trillin's Tummy Trilogy in hand.

is there any chance that Buffalo, New York's beef-on-weck sandwich bears some etymological connection to this Welsh podunk?

also, I want you to know the name of a book I just bought about drinking wines in Bordeaux: A Bibulous Meander.

lovely thing, enjoy Easter travel, and of course Ani lyrics - those always help.

I return to writing piano accompaniment painfully fast, as is my wont since this piece is due all too soon. Stress is very very high - very high indeed.

Hmm, I live in Squirrel Hill and I didn't even think to go to Pi! Silly of me. I should rectify this at some point. However, I did attend a friend's gathering, and had some delicious homemade pot pie and the dutch apple pie I brought (the finest offering of ghetto geagle!). I do enjoy a holiday that has food built into the title :)

I also did not think of going to Pi. I've actually never been- is it any good? I've heard mixed things.

BTW, what's the best way to contact you?

woa....it's like you read LJ or something bethfish March 18 2005, 11:44:47 UTC
I've only been to Pi's once, and I thought the food was good (but somewhat pricey), and the decor was odd. But on Pi day, the point of going is really much more than just the food, no?

As for contacting me, I'll be sort of MIA for the next two weeks - no phone, and far from internet access - but email to my andrew account is generally the best option.

Good to hear from you, though. This idea of a semester leave sounds like it might be a good thing for you, if you can find something really neat. Is this the sort of thing you want to do after college, though? I mean, if what you would probably end up doing this semester is exactly what you would be doing after college, it might make more sense just to finish the degree, get it out of the way, and then really dedicate more of your time. Anyhow, it's a neat idea, and I hope it works out for the best.
