Flood Day?

Aug 22, 2007 07:53

Yesterday was an odd day at work. I went in a little later because I knew I'd be working late. On the way in, I called one of my co-workers about the class we were to teach that night. She said she didn't even know if we would be having class because there was flooding in town.

I did end up enjoying it, thank you! And last evening when I checked the mail, there was a BEAUTIFUL giftie from you! Thank you so much! I love it all and I am just humbled and thankful! It totally made my week (and in a week when I have only had to work 1 day so far, that's impressive!).... You are the best!

Oh my gosh! I'm so glad you got home without any big problems!

As for staying home vs going into town to volunteer, I leave you with these words, uttered by my sister during every flood and snowstorm while she was a cop:

"Unless they can WALK home, I wish people would just STAY the hell home and not make more work for the cops!!!"

So there you have it, leeway from a professional :-). I'm glad you decided to play it safe today, my friend. And yay for you for bringing home your work computer - - but *enjoy* the bonus day off courtesy of Mother Nature, too!!!

Crazy.... but nice! Hee! Enjoy the extra day! I hope the waters subside soon though. Sounds like things are wet 'n' wild there.

It is completely crazy here. I am off today too. The river in my town is rushing and I think there's some flooding in my town, but only in the flood plain area, where of course it always floods.

Don't know if you saw the picture of I-75 flooded? That was the most amazing one to me.

Goodness! We have some minor flooding on some of the roads, but it's mostly such that people have to drive Very Slowly through the standing water. It's worst on King, 5th and 3rd Aves by the train tracks next to Olentangy. The gutters are also rushing with water, which makes my walk to the bus stop lots of fun.

Have a relaxing day off!

The Governor came up to Findlay yesterday and there is now a state of emergency there. Here's hoping it dries up quickly and there is no more rain anytime soon. I'm off again today!

Wow. That's craziness!

I remember last summer when D.C. shut down due to flooding. I couldn't get to work for three days because every way I would come into the city was completely closed...

Oddly enough, the building I moved in to right next to Rock Creek, which is where most of the flooding last summer came from. It should make for an interesting rainy season. At least now I have cable.

It IS craziness.

I am actually able to get to work - I just have to take a roundabout way to get there. They have now posted a map on the newspaper website saying which streets are closed, and that is actually pretty helpful, or will be tomorrow when I am assuming I will have to go in. We are closed again today.

Cable is maybe a necessity during times when you are stuck at your house. For today, I vow to read!
