So, it turns out that I like being a paper pusher.  I like not having a lot of job stress.  I like being busy during the day and accomplishing things but then not having to work around tightly wound people or having to make uncomfortable decisions.

As it turns out, I think you realized that your life's fulfillment isn't currently at work, so it's better to not make your employer's goals your life's goals. Like they say, "Not bad for government(or any bureaucracy) work."
