I have toppled off of the geek precipice, into the bottomless void of Warhammer 40k. And yet, I'm kinda ok with that. It's a ridiculously expensive hobby, but I have a friend with too much expendable cash and a spare Ork army just sitting around, waiting to be assembled and painted. He said he might cut me a deal on the army if I paint it for him

Dark and dangerous indeed. The up side is that it doesn't have to be. Acrylic craft paints? Work wonderfully, don't need expensive brush cleaners and can be mixed in those little cup thingies to make new colors that you want to reuse. The little "learn to paint" acrylic kits are also more affordable than they used to be.

..... I mean, I have no history with mini's. No. Never.
