First order of business: my birthday was awesome & I was shocked (to the point of a few tears) at how many people were sharing links to my art and buying prints from my webstore

I'm coming from a different perspective, but I'm going to have somethign up soon too. More of advice to people considering fucking plan b (with a bit about the classism).
Thank you, Beth, for your realistic discourse on Plans A and B. It may be fun to think about Fucking Plan B on your worst Plan A days, but when you can afford a roof over your head or money for groceries Plan A doesn't necessarily feel so awful.
People who don't throw caution to the wind and follow their bliss are not cowards, they're pragmatists. And hey, maybe it will take a bit longer to get that novel written or paint enough pictures to mount your own show in your living room, but there's nothing wrong with being financially secure while your dreams take shape.
Thank you for this, and if I ever have enough spoons, I'll try to write about this from the perspective of this idea being ableist.
(But being someone who's working part-time at a minimum wage job so I can go to school and (hopefully) get to somewhere/something I love, I don't usually have many spoons at all.)
I tried so hard to work my views on why this idea is insensitive to the very real struggles of PWD, but couldn't work it in. I'm sure someone will--- although the irony being educating people about ableism takes a lot of spoons that are usually needed elsewhere.
I hope you have plenty of spoons for your pursuits. <3
that wasn't meant to be flippant - I meant that my Plan A is being executed because Plan B is working. I need the money. I'd love to be a full time artist, but my Plan A doesn't end at "make art;" it also extends to "support art" and I can't support my fellow artists if I am too busy being a starving artist.
