Let's ban the "Golden Compass!" Non-God believers will all go to hell!

My mom and I both received an e-mail with this link explaining why "The Golden Compass" should be banned. I dearly love the people who forwarded this to us, so this is in no way meant to insult them...

I'm really too upset by this to say very much... I mean, I know that lots of books get banned. Harry ( Read more... )

*stares*

the idea of "killing god" is so weird to me. is that the whole point of the books? do they "kill god" in the end? i didn't even see that, at all. what the hell.

but doesn't it quote Pullman directly, with him saying that his books are all about killing god, or something of that sort? which is why i was so weirded out by that idea, as it came from the writer himself. but i suppose one could always misquote or take something like that out of context and use it to their own purposes. still. weird.

OK, well, now I read it. He sounds like a pretty vocal atheist, but I still say that if you raise your kids right they will know the difference between fiction and non, so this is hardly an issue. If there was one person in the world I could shoot, it would be that Bill Donahue guy from the Catholic League. SERIOIUSLY. I've seen him on TV before and I am SO over him.

Are these book REALLY considered childrens books? Young adult maybe....but im not sure that children like as in 9,10,11 year old children would be able to follow and understand them completely. just my opionion.
