Aren't you the one who recently posted thinking your fish had fin rot and started medicating the fish before making sure of what you were dealing with? The post appears to be deleted now but I'm pretty sure that was you. I don't think it's a good idea to breed a pet you're still learning about. Simply put, if you have to ask how to breed bettas, you shouldn't be breeding them, especially if you think eHow is the place to go to learn how to do it.
From what I've learned over the years, it's NOT as simple as putting two fish together and waiting for them to make babies. Breeding betta fish is complex and involves a lot of time, money, and space because there'll be a LOT of fry. I mean like, there can be hundreds, I've read on certain sites that it's best to have a small pond to raise the fish in, otherwise you need a ton of individual bowls.
Do a LOT more research than just Googling it and asking here, you'll probably learn a lot more and can breed in a couple years as you accumulate everything you need.
What in the heck, those instructions are lol. Breeding bettas is NOTHING like what that says and it leaves out the vast majority of necessary care and equipment. No fry will survive on "straw in water" like that, even if it does manage to produce infusoria. You really need to google a whole lot more before you even consider breeding.
