New Betta with a Possible Burn

I just got a new betta. I've been wanting to get one for a while and have had the tank all ready to for go for months. I bought a nice blue crowntail betta from petsmart and thought, due to the lighting in the store he had a different color to his head. Once I got him home and got him into the tank I notice that this lighter color was actually

It seems that your coding is rebelling against you, but I did open up the picture to check it out. My Plakat, Brock, has something similar, and I too adopted him in this condition. I thought it was fin rot, but I've kept his tank clean and I've noticed no change whatsoever. I'm sorry I can't help much else beyond this. I'm very curious what other opinions people have, so I'm going to follow this post.

Have you tested the ammonia of your tank? Ammonia burns typically affect the whole body, especially the fins.

This might be some kind of scrape or damage from his last home. Maybe a scar? I would say to keep your water really clean and keep an eye on it in case it becomes infected. That's me, though.

In my opinion, it doesn't look like anything is wrong with him, but the picture is very blurry so its hard to say for certain. Keep a close eye on him for a couple of days and if you see no odd changes in behavior or changes in the scales then he is probably alright. I've had some bettas with similar patches of oddly colored scales and it just looked different in different types of lighting; whether flourescent, or incandescent or sun light, the scales will appear to change a bit in color

Thanks! Yes, I just noticed the other day that the white coloration is gone and all I see in it's place is a line. So it got much better.
