Yuletide Santa Letter - 2012
Dear Yuletide Santa -
I tried to make my requests as clear as possible about the types of things that I might want to see, but in addition to my request details what I want to say is - you are made of awesome. Anything you write me will be great.
I prefer slash, but if you don’t like writing slash don’t feel obligated by any means! Just no explicit het scenes, and I'll be good.
I like graphic and explicit just as much as I like fade to blacks. I like funny, and I like angsty, and I like UST as much as I like fluff. I prefer happy endings in fic, but if it just doesn’t turn out that way I’ll probably cry for them and still really enjoy the story. Just try not to kill everyone, and be true to characterizations and the feel of the source material, and I will be perfectly happy with anything.
I don’t mind kink and I don’t mind graphic. Tie people up and spank them as much as you want. My only real squicks are non-con and anything that involves human waste. Avoid those, and anything that can happen between two (or more) consenting adults is fine by me.
Usually I request a few of the same things every year, but this year all of my requests are entirely new, which is exciting for me! Anyway, here are the specifics from my requests with some additional comments!
Blood Brothers (musical) - I saw this show for the first time while I was in London this last summer, and my first thought was “this would make for some great fic.” What I’d love to see is an alternate storyline with Mickey and Eddie falling for each other, either with the story playing out as it actually does, or with a fix it sort of ending. Since we basically see them at every stage of their lives, there’s so much potential for so many types of things: exploration, first times, hurt/comfort, whatever you like! I know that the Narrator wasn’t in the nomination list, but I do love him, so feel free to have him with his creepy voice over if you’d like to. Also, Sammy and Linda cameos would be fine, even cameos from the mothers, but I’d like the story to center around Mickey and Eddie. If slash isn’t your deal, no worries, I’d love anything with missing scenes between them that explore their dynamic, or even an alternate ending after they’re revealed as brothers with them trying to resolve that fact, etc.
Julius Caesar - This is the first time I’m requesting something classical, but I directed this play earlier this year and was just so struck by Cassius and Brutus. They seem very much in love with each other, in either a brotherly way or in a way that my slasher’s heart calls out for, so feel free to explore their relationship to each other in any way you’d like. Write it in imitation of Shakespeare, or modernized, poetry or prose, as a script or as a narrative, whatever you want. Set it classically or in space or somewhere in between, it’s all good. As long as this is focused around Cassius and Brutus and their dynamic, I’ll be happy. (Also, of everything that I’ve requested this is where I see the easiest exploration of BDSM themes, if you’re headed that way I wouldn’t mind at all.)
Love Actually - So, of course, as you probably already guessed, I was always a little bummed out when we discovered that Mark wasn’t actually in love with Peter. So if you want to fix that for me, I’d be happy. AU where there was never a Juliet and the two of them figure each other out? Anything that resolves it without bashing Juliet would be wonderful. I could even go for a threesome with some het thrown in there if you want to set up an OT3 Mark/Peter/Juliet situation. Aside from that, I’ll take anything you want to do with Mark and Peter as the focus. They obviously care quite a bit for each other as friends, so friendship fic would be great too. What happens after? What were they like as teenagers? Whatever you want to do! I’m also not usually a big fan of Christmas stories, but in this fandom it absolutely works if you want to explore other Christmases down the road, etc. Cameos from any other character are fine, as long as the story focuses on Peter and Mark.
Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog - What isn’t there to love about this? This is the one fandom where my little heart isn’t set on slash as a first choice. Of course, if you want to write Horrible/Hammer in some way feel free (because, honestly, it would be AWESOME), but I’m also perfectly happy seeing anything gen here. Young Billy, and whatever happened to turn him to his life of evil. Some of his earlier schemes and run-ins with Hammer. Or the reverse with young Hammer. How about the whole series from Hammer’s perspective? Some strange AU? Anything you want to do will be adorable. Bonus points if you write in new songs!
To sum up the most important bit: You are made of awesome and can write anything. That’s all.
