Dear Yuletide Santa -
I tried to make my requests as clear as possible about the types of things that I might want to see, but in addition to my request details what I want to say is - you are made of awesome. Anything you write me will be great.
I’m fine with anything from g rated to explicit bdsm smut and everything in between, love fluff as much as I love angst, and am (honestly) going to love anything you imagine up for this challenge. I enjoy slash more than het, and het more than femme, but have been reading more het in general lately too so I’m not really even sure of that anymore. Love is love, so if you want to write about love then write whatever kind of love you want to write as long as it’s between consenting adults. My requests definitely lean toward slash, but if you’re not comfortable with that then do not feel obligated!
I like graphic and explicit just as much as I like fade to blacks. I like funny, and I like angsty, and I like UST as much as I like fluff. I prefer happy endings in fic, but if it just doesn’t turn out that way I’ll probably cry for them and still really enjoy the story. I also believe that a ‘happy ending’ doesn’t always look the same for one character, or in one fandom, as it does in another. Sometimes darker things are ‘happy’ too, in their own way. Just try not to kill everyone, and be true to characterizations and the feel of the source material, and I will be in love with whatever you’ve created.
I don’t mind kink and I don’t mind graphic. Tie people up and spank them as much as you want. In general my only real squicks are non-con and anything related to bodily waste. Avoid those, and anything that can happen between two (or more) consenting adults is fine by me. I love love stories, explorations of family dynamics, first times (for anything), real friendships, queer reimagining, realistic narratives, funky historical strangeness, strange sci-fi weird, and REALLY anything you want to do.
Now, the requests! Since we get SIX this year I’m revisiting some old favorites, and have some new fandoms to request too. It should be an exciting year!
Blood Brothers - Russell Mickey Johnstone/Edward Lyons
I saw this show for the first time while I was in London a few summers ago (before it closed!), and my first thought was “this would make for some great fic.” What I’d love to see is an alternate storyline with Mickey and Eddie falling for each other, either with the story playing out as it actually does, or with a fix it sort of ending. Since we basically see them at every stage of their lives, there’s so much potential for so many types of things: exploration, first times, hurt/comfort, whatever you like! I didn’t add him to my requested characters, because he isn’t a requirement for me, but I also love the Narrator, so feel free to have him with his creepy voice over if you’d like to. Also, Sammy and Linda cameos would be fine, even cameos from the mothers, but I’d like the story to center around Mickey and Eddie. If slash isn’t your deal, no worries, I’d love anything with missing scenes between them that explore their dynamic, or even an alternate ending after they’re revealed as brothers with them trying to resolve that fact, etc.
Noah’s Arc Noah Nicholson/Ricky Davis/Junito Vargas
What I love about this show are the character interactions, how much they care for each other no matter how dysfunctional they sometimes are. Ricky is my favorite character, I love the way he continually is discovering that he’s a lot deeper than he thinks he is, and I really love Ricky/Junito or Ricky/Noah. Want to rewrite the film so that Noah goes for Ricky instead, have at it! Want to bring Junito back? I can’t believe he wasn’t in the film to begin with! Want to put Ricky/Junito/Noah in a hot threeway? I won’t complain. Or, on the gen side, the gang does a lot of things well: hang out, protect each other, and rescue each other. My favorite secondary characters are Trey, Baby Gat, and T-Money in the series and I thought Brandon was awesome in the film. Honestly, I’d be up for just about anything. I’m not the biggest fan of Wade, so I’d prefer he not be the focus. But if you don’t want to disregard the film canon, you certainly don’t have to.
When She Woke - Hillary Jordan Hannah Payne/Aiden Dale/Simone
This novel terrifies me with how easily it could be real, you know? But as I was reading it, what I’d really like are some endings and some resolution that we don’t really get. I don’t need something that fixes everything, but I would like to get a sense of where they are in the future. Maybe Hannah and Aiden find each other again, maybe they don’t. If they do, making actual amends with each other seems like it would take a lot of blood and pain for them both. I also am incredibly interested in Simone and what her story would become if we knew the rest of it. If you’ve matched me on this, what I really just want is more, so anything more that you give me in this world is going to be excellent.
Strike Back Damien Scott/Michael Stonebridge/Liam Baxter/Julia Richmond
My new favorite TV show, perfect for things blowing up and for a lot of good team dynamics. I love the energy between Scott and Stonebridge. Slash or a hot threesome would, of course, be more than welcome there. But I also love the team dynamic of this show, so anything that incorporates that will be just fine with me. As secondary characters, I loved Liam and I love Julia. Anything that explores either of them in any sort of detail would be great too. I am not a fan of Rachel Dalton’s character, so I would prefer she not be a major focus of anything I receive.
Graceland Mike Warren/Paul Briggs/Johnny Tuturro
I picked my three favorite characters, but this is another example of a show where what I love is the team dynamic. So, once again, if you want to write slash pwp or a hot threesome, you feel free - but I’d also love to see them working a case, spending time together, or working through the emotional sabotage of the end of the season. And of the other members of the team - I like them all! (This is a rare occasion where I even like all of the GIRLS!) So, feel free to include whoever you’d like.
The 4400 Shawn Farrell/Jordan Collier
This show ended way too soon. I've listed Shawn and Jordan as the characters I'd like to see, but really you can write about anyone. What I'd really like is just some world-building picking up where the series left us all feeling unfulfilled. How did the world change? What did any of those with new abilities learn/do with them? Do we have a paradise? I'm completely happy with Gen here, but if you want to write romance for anyone I'd really rather not have Shawn/Jordan. That was always more a strange father/son thing to me than it was romantic.
To sum up the most important bit: You are made of awesome and can write anything. That’s all.
