[Might be just a little embarrassed, considering it's subject matter he'd been tossing around in his mind surprisingly recently back home..... but still though, it's fairly well hidden under the tones of a lazily affectionate smirk.]

[Kisame's not often the type of guy who likes to sound overly serious, or thoughtful, or angry, or upset, or.... anything, really. With anyone, Itachi included. He prefers to keep things on a light, pleasant tone and an even keel when he can; wearing your heart on your sleeve tends to cause more trouble than it's worth, moreso for negative emotions than positive ones, even if they are less intense.

Still, he's making an effort to respect the gravity which which Itachi is treating this, tone soft and thoughtful once he listens to Itachi say his piece; it's obviously important to the guy.] I know you did, Itachi-san. And I trust you; you are a man of your word, after all. But really, since when have I been holding back anything?

Besides, what if I like being this way? We have been together for a while, you know--it's inevitable that things and people change over a solid decade.

[He pauses for a moment himself at the last comment, confused and a little uncertain; this could mean any number of things, and trust Itachi to be ambiguous.] ( ... )
