Here from a rec from Bironic, and singing along to it, having watched that episode of Buffy last night. I loved your author notes at the top, and am expecting some Wilson Swing dancing :P

[Song: The Patient (To the tune of “The Mustard.”)]
CAMERON (turns a cartwheel, sings):
The patient’s still okay!
*cracks up*

The Wilson/Tara number made the HW girl in me weep with joy. It was wonderful. Favourite line was: "but on relfection / 'twas mutual connection"

Ditto: "We’re both screwed up but still we fit.". Ah, squee.

I love the House verse of "Half drink, and half narcotic haze", I think it fits the original rhythm perfectly.

FELLOWS:
We have been here all night working.
Does anybody even care?*Cracks up* No ( ... )

The summary came with the prompt--the one I wrote was used as an LJ cut--but I found it funny myself ( ... )

Well a kiss is certainly a way of distracting Wilson! :P

I don't know, it seems a common line in fic to have him lured away from work by the line "you have a hole department which are going to ground to a halt if you're not there?". I've always seen him as an equal to House, in a way, so never thought he was a fellow. But you're right: with a plot which centres around House, to have a character appear they need to be near him. He's usually working in his office in the evenings though, and I think he's been more hands on throughout season 3.

Well, to be fair to Tara, she let off the green sparkles, which are slightly less emasculating than the pink sparkles of Willow. Then again, I've always thought that the Xander/Anya song was more sappy, but perhaps I'm just not too fond of it.
Syllable counts! Iii, I admire how well you've tried to stick to the original song. I think that the extra care on that number really comes through, and it works brilliantly. The question is - can you listen to the originals without smiting their tricky

You're right in your point re. Wilson--he is more hands-on now, and I wasn't taking the evenings into account (probably because House usually pops in to interrupt, so how much can he really be getting done?). And he is set up to be the closest House has to an equal--which isn't appreciated sufficiently in fic. He's more intelligent than he's given credit for ( ... )

*Basks in the praise*

Thank you so much! Not sending it anywhere (I figure nothing would come of it, especially as the music's not original), but it's nice that you think it's worthy to go!

Greatest thing in the whole Internet? *Blushes* Wow...what a lovely superlative!

Oh, dude. DUDE. This is one for the books, this is.

Does anybody even care?

[End song.]

(Abrupt cut to a sleeping CUDDY, and the tacit answer: “No.”)

The entire thing was fantastically brilliant, but you really managed to hit the perfect BtVS/House comic vibe with that exchange. Also, I found It’s comfortable now to be a pair particularly LOL-worthy, but that's because I thought he'd just said It’s comfortable now to grow a pair.

But anyway. You rock :-)

I enjoyed the tone of that exchange myself; it felt like it did "hit the perfect vibe." It's good to have even such a small number so appreciated!

Glad you enjoyed!

This was...

There are no words. None whatsoever. First of all, IN CHARACTER TO A FAULT. Second of all, House/Wilson. Third, THE MUSICAL EPISODE OMG THAT ONE IS THE BEST EVER OMG OMG OMG. I played the songs from the musical, and it is perfect. The lyrics work, they make sense, they rhyme, they can probably get up on stage and do a jig.

Hilarious, funny, sick, insane, wack, crack, don't talk smack. This has just convinced me that House needs to do a musical and join the list of TV Shows That Have Done Musicals (I think The Simpsons did one too; dunno though. And the whole South Park movie is a musical. But still. Musical, stat).

Favoriting this, bookmarking this, probably printing the lyrics out later to sing along to. You have done well, grasshopper.

Thanks for the assurance that everyone was IC; that was always my first concern, and I'd hoped I was able to maintain characterization in and out of song. Good to know I succeeded.

House/Wilson is actually the first slash couple I've ever gotten behind (I thank those sections of my literary theory class devoted to decoding homoerotic subtext), and I really find them a pleasure to write. I can't see either with anyone else.

I'm so glad the music works for you--I charted the rhyme scheme and syllable counts of the original lyrics beforehand, to be sure it all worked (and then sang it myself to double-check). Writing the lyrics was just incredible fun, and I love the mental image of them dancing.

I wish House would do a musical! (Probably not, but I can hope.)

Have fun singing!

Wonderfully inspired stuff! I love the way you manage to work a plot around the songs, and it scans and rhymes so well! I love the dialogue in the in-between bits, which has got just the right level of snark, and the songs are superb.

Fantastic stuff. *mems*

Thanks so much! I hadn't originally planned more than a collection of songs, but as I moved into the H/W numbers, I realized I couldn't do them without plot development--getting those two over the "platonic friends" barrier is a process. Hence, DDXWF grew a plot, dialogue and stage directions, and was enriched. And there was much rejoicing. *grins*

I'm glad I hit "just the right level of snark." I tend to be sarcastic more often than not, so that part of my personality comes out to play in the House fandom. The H/W dynamic (slash or otherwise) in particular is a real joy to play with.

And I'm thrilled you enjoyed the songs! Perfecting the scansion was tricky, but oh, so worth it!
