Mission Statement:
A crack-crossover-AU-bad!fic-LOLz fest. Here we embrace the bad!fic & crack!fic by taking horrible ideas and writing them well. That's when the bad becomes the awesomely bad (ergo, becoming brilliant).
How to Play:
Submit a comment to this post that includes:
(1) nickname
(2) lj username
(3) (at least one) Fic Summary
You may submit as many prompts/summaries as you wish. We're breaking them into three sub-genres: "Bad!Fic", "Crossover!Fic", and "AU!Fics".
We define them as:
AU!Fic: Alternative/Alternate universe. The characters are taken out of their canon and placed elsewhere (somewhere radically different, like, say, another time or space -- or even space itself.) Important note: ignoring canon is not AU. We won't count them. AU is "Foreman isn't black"; not "House and Wilson have been gay lovers since first sight."
Bad!Fic: It's easy to ridicule a fic for poor characterization and grammar/spelling errors. That's like saying Sailor Moon sucks because of the dub. When we say Bad!Fic, we mean [to quote the panelist running "Bad Anime, Bad"]: "the god awful, what the fuck, illogical, your brain explodes it's so horrible" Bad!Fic. (You know, the good stuff.)
Crossover!Fic: Two mediums, two canons; they collide and make babies. This is place for those weird crossovers you would never dare ever think. (i.e.: House/Star Trek: Deep Space Nine)
An example of an entry form:
Nickname: Mary Sue
lj username: [lolzsparkles]
Fic Summary:
(1) [AU!Fic] "House and Wilson are 12-year-old grrlz. House is a skater, b/c he doesn't listen to any1. THis is totally true to real life, i should know."
(2) [Bad!Fic] "House decides to amputate his leg... but teh doctors remove the wrong one! Will happen when he wakes up?"
(3) [Crossover!Fic] (Sailor Moon) Summary: House/Sailor Moon AU! House, Wilson, Foreman, and Chase are Sailor Starlights! [Or, if you want to be technical, 3 of the 4 are!]
Posting and Claiming:
Sign-Ups: April 25 to May 11
Claims: May 12 to May 26
Posting Begins: June 1
Fest Closes: August 31
During the May 12 to 26th window, you may claim up to three (3) prompts. If you complete all three before the August 31 deadline, you may claim one (1) other prompt, at a time. You must complete all your claims, before claiming another. We're calling this "rolling claims".
We will not limit you to only three crack!fics, especially if you want more. We also aren't going to shut you out of the party if you showed up late. You can still join and claim prompts after May 11th, but after that date you must submit a minimum of three (3) prompts in your sign-up post.
[Note on Shipping (because where would the House fandom be without shipping!!)]: Prompts may either cater to a certain demographic and explicitly state ratings and warnings (i.e. Wilson/Foreman, NC17, warning: peanut butter);... Or cater to a vague pairings-gen audience (i.e. Ducklings are circus freaks). Unless the prompt DIRECTLY IMPLIES the characters are having sex, or want to have sex, or love each other for ever and ever and ever, any ship may claim it once. So, for example, the fic summary "Cameron starts hearing voices that say House is the Messiah. She sets out to find her rock and build her worship center!" may be claimed once by a participant that hearts either Ham, Huddy, Wilho, Chameron, etc, etc. We're limiting the number of ships that claim a prompt to 190. If you're the 191st, you're just shit out of luck.
Requirements for Fic:
1. This might sound paradoxical, but you must beta your fic. The purpose is not to write "bad fic". (Don't. Just don't write it.) It's to write the most kick ass "Bad!Fic" ev-ah. (And, Jesus H., there's a difference!) Proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling increases your chances at succeeding.
2. Minimum of 1042 words (and a maximum of 100,042 words).
3. All fics must have some relation to some House character(s).
If you have any other questions, ask away. If you want to join in, drop a line.
