I'm not gonna lie folks, it's rough times when two of the most important people in your life cut you out in a space of about four months. It has a tendency to justify certain self-loathing tendencies. It's one thing to dislike oneself and fear that others will dislike you. Wow, sounds awful. I've never heard of an 'oozing existence' but can sort of understand. I don't suppose that changing your MO to Non-asshole is an option? More info please on the important odd-end that was a victim of fashion sense.

As far as info: I had a small bit of plastic on a shirt that was given to me by someone special. The tag had been on the shirt and attached by the bit of plastic. Eventually, the tag fell off (it got washed, after all), but I left the plastic bit on. It survived numerous attempts to remove it and provided numerous people with the opportunity to tell me the tag was still on my shirt, which I replied to with "I know, and I like it there." One of the first detractors of the tag, tired of seeing it on the shirt after so many years, apparently, and having had something to drink, took it into her hands to remove it, and cut it off suddenly while I was out with a group of eight people including her. I haven't been that angry at someone in a long time, and justifiably at that, but at the time I could only respond with shock. I didn't know what to say to her. She apologized nearly immediately, though that did me little good. I still have the bit of plastic, but it was part of the shirt before, and now neither the shirt nor the plastic work/ ( ... )

Ooooohhh... that is so sad! As a fellow sentimentalist I can feel your pain. Also the outrage that someone would alter your clothing without permission and obviously without knowing the significance of that act.

I know what you mean, on a lot of this, at least the clinging on to things. It's one of the reasons I hate coming back to Fairfax - I'm too nostalgic for it.
