Interestingly enough, many indy films become successful as cult movies. That is, however, years after they've been released. And then there are examples like Open Water (the one with the couple left in the ocean and then get eaten by sharks). That was produced as a low budget independent film, then Lion's Gate purchased it for $2 million.
But I understand. It is a risk that I'm not sure I can afford to make.
