catmint???

ok maybe me and my IQ just aren't getting this but it seems that niether can my best friend or my parents (and my parents are extremely intelligent). but my grandmother and uncle sent this cat mat for the cats it it has a pictures of 2 cats sleeping and a bowl in front of them with leafy green plants and the bowl says catmint on it....its mint ( Read more... )

If I recall, catnip is a type of mint. It wouldn't be unreasonable for other cultures or areas to call it "catmint".

I do know I still love playing with it, though.

so, being an cat person and a herbal person, i did a little research (ok, so i just googled 'catmint') anyhow, according to botanical.com, it is a differnt plant from catnip, it "bears a certain resemblance to that of both Mint and Pennyroyal" and apparantly has a similar effect on cats to catnip.

Catmint tea is also supposed to be very helpful for fevers, and relieving headaches.
