Matt had stayed up that little while longer to fiddle with some of the electrical equipment her now adopted twin brother had left in his room. She couldn't help it really, given that she'd been denied access to this stuff for months beforehand and it just felt so good to have her hands occupied like this again, and... secretly, it meant putting off sleeping in the bed with Mello a little while longer, at least hopefully until the other woman was asleep ( ... )

Mello heard the girl tinkering, a bit amused by it. Her Matt had done that a lot while she'd been recovering in his bed and trying his damnedest to be quiet before crawling into bed with her.

Her back stiffened a bit when she felt the other Matt climb in and part of her was wondering if this was a good idea at all. She'd always had trouble sleeping when it came to other people in bed with her. Other people climbing into bed with her. Previous experiences had always been bad and on top of that, this was Matt. Not her Matt, sure. Never her Matt. The guy was gone.

And, besides, it was a woman in bed with her - a woman. A woman version of Matt, no less. It would be okay. It really would.

She squeezed her eyes shut, attempting to curl into a ball and inadvertently taking the blankets with her.

Still searching for the comfy spot... still searching...

And then the warmth that had started to build up beneath the blanket was suddenly gone, jus like that, and of course once the heat vanished it hit her how chilly it was outside of the blankets. Matt shivered in response and cautiously reached for the edge of the blanket, deciding to getly attempt to tug some of it back for herself. If Mello was asleep then she didn't want to wake her doing it.

She gave an experimental tug, which, when it accomplished nothing caused her to let out a huff of annoyance, so she tugged harder, she liked Mello... really, but she was't going to spend all night being cold thanks to her blanket-hogging.

"Damn it Mello..." she muttered, greedy blondes, they always shared that.

"Oh, sorry," Mello muttered, just wanting to get through the first night here and let go of her grip on the blank. Though she doubted Matt was going to keep it once they were actually asleep. Practically every night had left them taking turns on waking up to no blanket until the redhead had gotten a clue and grabbed a second one from somewhere.

Not that she was going to suggest it this late at night. As high strung as she was at the moment, she was also exhausted from the day's events and all the running around they'd done to get some basics essentials for herself and this Matt. She was still shocked that the other girl had suggested going commando. Mello was a lot of things, but leather pants were uncomfortable enough without something padding them and she refused to go commando on the rare occasions she'd worn a skirt.

Then, she had to ask. She remembered the things the girl had told her over the computers. And she needed to say something to fill the silence or else she'd start thinking too much again and wind up staying awake all ( ... )

Matt woke up at a time that normally qualified as 'early' for him, the midday sunlight pouring-in and invading his living room until finally, inevitably, he was woken up if only by the need to put on his goggles and protect himself against the harmfully bright light. He grumbled and rolled off of the couch tiredly, set about making coffee as he smoked idly, and for a good solid minute or so his mind was in a dull, gentle haze before, all at once, it occurred to him just why he had been sleeping on the couch in the first place.

Matt's first, creeping worry was that the girls were gone, and before the coffee maker had even made-up a cup worth of caffeine for the morning Matt was tromping down the hallway to see if they actually were still there. His fingers hesitated on the doorknob for only a moment before he turned it and pushed, eyes trained intensely on the shape of his bed in the midday half-light of his bedroom. For a split second he worried at the small size of the lump in his covers, fearing that one of the two really had ( ... )

Matt was warm, and distinctly comfortable, like she had her own personal hot water bottle staving off the winter cold. A soft pleased noise escaped her throat as nuzzled her head closer into soft hair, must have a furry cover on it or something. Either way the source warmth was comfortable enough to leave her trying to hold off on waking properly for that little bit longer, been a while since she'd slept as well as this.

Eventually though the pull to open her eyes and wake up won and Matt could only let out a protesting yawn... and get a mouthful of blonde hair for a struggle. After a very undiginified seperation of hair from mouth the redhead looked down at the offending head in question and came to a sudden sharp realisation.

She was cuddling, cuddling with with Mello, a female Mello to be precise, and she wasn't sure whether that made the situation better or worse. More awkward certainly but... they hadn't fallen asleep like this had they? Matt remembered they'd ended up sitting and talking together a few hours after they went to ( ... )

It was warm . . . and comfortable. And soft, too. So very soft. And it was comfortable. Someone else was in bed with her, too, but she didn't ache as she did when that normally happened nor did she have her back directly against the wall like she did when things like that happened, so it must have been . . .

"Near . . . " she mumbled sleepily, just loud enough for her companion to hear, pulling that softness just a little closer to herself. Something felt off, but she wasn't awake enough to really tell at this point. And if Near had climbed into bed with her for whatever reason, he probably wouldn't mind if she took a few minutes to wake up.

This was nice, for once. Was she not allowed to enjoy something nice for a few minutes?

Human eyebrows could only raise so much, and Matt was fairly sure that he had them raised as high as they could go when greeted with the combined visuals of his sorta-twin-sis's 'deer in the headlights' stare and miss Mello's more intensified cuddling [not to mention that the name 'Near' was what fell from her lips--]. Had they... had they done something? That didn't seem quite right, but well... girls were close, he knew, but he never figured that they cuddled as they slept at sleepovers. But that didn't necessarily mean that anything like-... like THAT had happened, of course ( ... )
