At the Library and Friends

Quote of the Week: Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same. Unknown.

This is so true, not only of the friends I've made over the years in my town, but also of my cyberspace friends, from all over the world. Isn't the Internet great?

The feeling is mutual, friend. :>)

You got some nice gifts from Japan! I still keep in touch with 4 pen pals. 2 by Internet and the other 2 with old-fashioned letters.

That's wonderful, Christine. I wish I'd kept in touch with my pen pals. It would be nice to hear how they're doing now. Old-fashioned letters are good. I write to a few people now.

I've had a lot of pen pals over the years, but only a few remain. The two who write letters don't have Internet. We also have a family friend who prefers letters to phone calls, even though she lives close by. :>)

A lot of people I know still do not have Internet and don't want it. (I guess we're showing our age.) I enjoy receiving letters in the mail. A sweet foster cousin 90 years young writes to me every now and then. He loves getting my letters too. When I was teaching 3rd grade my students had pen pals in California. They really enjoyed learning about other kids and schools.

It's funny, I usually send a note to a few friends and relatives with the Christmas cards every year. The one year I didn't, I sure heard about it! :>) I didn't realize they were so popular (it's not like I had any exciting news).

I used to get a couple of newsletters about what the family had been doing that year. It was fun keeping up with them, especially if I never saw them. Fewer and fewer people are even sending cards now, it seems.
