I'm really sorry, Kelsey. I have sooo been there, done that, and it sucks, and I'm very sorry. :(

While your mom's comments are unnecessary and merely a painful reminder, it may be helpful to remember they are most likely well-intentioned (not wanting you to get hurt or disappointed) and just hang on to that. Sometimes we humans can be clumsy or misguided in our attempts to express our caring for one another, and can cause more harm than good. :( It's a lesson I've been learning lately, that sometimes people are outta line/more harmful than helpful, but that it's good to remember where their hearts are and that they DO love me. :)

But you seem to have a good outlook, of not just altogether giving up on this. So try not to let your mom's comments get you down.

And, I know what it's like to have trouble connecting with friends/spending a lot of time alone. I will pray that changes for you soon.

Aww Callie, you always leave such nice comments, I really appreciate it.

My mom later came and apologized, I think she understood where I was coming from and I do know that she was just trying to protect me.
The thing is that she's an eternal pessimist, she calls it being a realist. I'm not though! All I ask is that she not always try and drag me down to her level.
