The thing with Cal is that he's the ~lone ranger~ but way less noble. Even though he has a whole staff of people, he doesn't really think he needs them. He's always going to find a way to bring it back to him. So when someone else helped him it was really his doing (he taught them, he steered them in the right direction, etc
