Girls' Getaway Weekend

Got back from Girls' Getaway Weekend last night.  Normally we go up on Friday and come back on Monday night, but I had no one to keep Eleanor today, so Kelli and I came back on Sunday night.

Kelli and I talked and laughed about everything under the sun on the way up to the cabin.   We got hella lost once we were there.  Had to call Dianne for directions on a cell phone with poor reception (it's the mountains....grrrr).  Finally made it there about midnight. Slept on the air mattress on the screened-in porch.  Fall hasn't totally set in yet, but there was a bit of a nip in the air at night.  Soooo good for sleeping. Kelli, Cindy, and I stayed up until about 4 giggling and talking.

Saturday, Kelli, Tamie, Su, Cindy, and I met Di and Dana at Mercier's for lunch.  Much shopping ensued and catching up was done.  That afternoon we went to the cowboy store (got some new jeans and a pair of shoes), and some shopping for dinner.  When we got back to the cabin, I took a little nap, and woke in time for our traditional steaks for dinner.  That night we watched the comedian Jeff Dunham (Achmed the Dead Terrorist puppetry guy) and a movie with Ashton Kutcher in it (something about Vegas??), which was only so-so.  Oh, and Su cut and colored my hair. Jason hasn't noticed yet.

Sunday, we loafed, laughed, hung out, and headed home about 2:30-ish. Kelli had never been to Ikea, so we stopped off there for a little while.  I finally bought my new couches, and with Kelli's help got them over to the home delivery area of the store.  They were delivered today, and are upstairs as I type this, still wrapped in cellophane.  Tomorrow, perhaps I shall let them out of their plastic prisons.  I may be forced into some garage cleaning to make way for the old couches that are also still in the living room.  It's a bit crowded in there right now.

It is nice to be around people who you can share everything with.  Some of us are sad, some have an unexpected grandchild, some are empty-nesters, one may have a husband who is cheating, some have young kids like me.  We're all at different stages of our lives, but we've got this bond.  I have a deep, deep connection with these women, and I am glad for the time I spent with them.  The time was much too short, but I missed Jason and Eleanor.  It is good to be home.

I'm on my school's Fall Break this week.  I have class tomorrow, but later this week, I plan to renew my driver's license, go to the eye doctor, grade about 100 essays, grade 100 unit exams, and start on my ten page paper that's due in less than a week.  Today I got caught up on my course work that's due tomorrow.  I also need to do a D*Con post (yeah, yeah, I just have not had time), and do something for myself, like make a few cards just because I can.  I do have mad craft skillz and I have not used them in some time.  Plus, Jason's mom is coming for Halloween, so I'd like to pull out the decorations this week to get ready to have some fun with that.  I can't wait to see her, and I know she's probably looking forward to seeing Eleanor.  She may not love me the most anymore.

I'm not as depressed as I was a week ago, so that's good.  I just have a LOT to do this week.  It was nice to have a weekend off.

Love to all, and I hope to see some of you on Saturday for the party.

friends, jason
